😊: Apartment is one of several in a small development, a short drive from Angoulême city centre. Everything was clean and adjacent off-road free parking was welcome. Host gave helpful information.. 😢: Rickety spiral staircase would not suit everyone. Sofa was uncomfortable. There were no other problems - it is simply cheap and cheerful..

😊: Brand new appartment in pristine condition, fully equipped with all useful amenities. Quiet and comfortable with a very convenient parking lot.. 😢: Located in a remote area. Car required..

😊: The owner was incredibly helpful, responded quickly to some problems we were having. He came over within 30 minutes to resolve the issues and was very friendly and warm. He even provided us with his netflix account, which I believe is something he does for all his appartments and is easy to use (when Netflix is cooperates). He provides you with a lot of useful information after your booking is confirmed including a video (French) on how to work the digital numberpad lock. There is a coatrack and the kitchen is well equiped, but we ended up not cooking during our stay, so I cannot review the functionality. The washing machine we used several times, it is a small machine for small loads but it did work well, we used it only during the day when we went out because it makes a lot of noise! We used our own detergent in a small bottle, there is none provided! There is a good drying rack available. Big fridge with freezer section, and the cleaning equipment is behind a curtain in the living room. The blinds are superb, they make the apartment feel private and secure. Couch seemed clean...but wasn't really comfortable. The heating is electric and works quickly and very well! So be careful, it will quickly be too hot. We had ours on 20.5C from day 2. There are also temperature and humidity sensors in the apartment. The heating rack in the bathroom works very well too, which we put to 22.5C so the towels could dry properly in the bathroom as there was no mechanical ventilation. We opened the window when showering. The bathroom is spacious and has a deep shower with good doors, the sink is basic but functional with a well lit mirror and the toilet has a luxury sized seat and lid. There is also a bin in the bathroom. The bed is big enough for 2 regular sized people, but also needs 2 people to keep the mattress down or it will slide... Or 1 big person perhaps? There is a nightstand and socket on each side. Parking is good only for cars that can easily get up a curb!. 😢: Firstly, the owner cleaned everything we pointed out needed cleaning and he did so very well. Merci beaucoup for that! Unfortunately the cleaner has no respect for the owner and didn't clean the apartment to a good standard... We chose to clean some things ourself as it was very close to Christmas and we felt like being helpful. However if you feel something is not right, please tell the owner as he told us in person he very much appreciates being given the chance to make things right! And he did. So, I think this is not a problem. However, one thing that needs addressing are the stairs in the Apt.. They seriously do not "feel" safe. The owner fixed the stairs when he saw the railing was detaching, but unfortunately after 1 day the same parts were loose again. One of the steps close to the top is wonky and the whole staircase isn't attached to any supporting walls... So I am wondering when the first accident will happen. The stairs are very narrow and not suitable for the elderly. The top floor is the bedroom with bathroom attached. The sliding door to the bathroom is very bad, the first and last time I closed it, I couldn't open it again by myself as it somehow detached and i had to call my partner to come and help me get out of the bathroom LOL! Also it doesnt actually close off the room either because there's a gap, so no privacy. We chose to use the bathroom with the door always open and the other person had to stay downstairs. Then there's the bedding, unfortunately the bedsheets felt very synthetic, but fortunately we had relatives nearby who gave us some nice soft cotton bed sheets, which we put over the provided bed sheets. The pillows were incredibly bad...luckily we brought our own! The bed lacks a headboard and feels too small for the room! A firmer mattress would also be appreciated, since many different people of different shapes and weight will share this... The mattress felt like it already had shaped to someone else..
