I do not recall this deposit being clearly disclosed when I made my reservation, and I only became aware of it after booking. Upon learning about the deposit requirement, I attempted to cancel the reservation because this was not a condition I had expected when making the booking. However, neither the property nor Booking.com allowed me to cancel free of charge at that stage. After checkout, €50 was withheld from the deposit for alleged failures to follow checkout instructions. These instructions were sent through messages in French, which I did not fully understand, and no photos, invoices, receipts, or other evidence were provided to justify the deduction. The accommodation itself was acceptable, but the deposit process, inability to cancel after discovering the additional requirement, and subsequent deduction without supporting evidence left me feeling that the arrangements were not communicated transparently. I would strongly recommend that future guests carefully confirm any security deposit requirements, checkout obligations, and possible deductions before booking..
