😊: Loved the property, fantastic location. Very Clean and had everything you need. Good supply of clean towels and nice bed linen. Beautiful Quiet area which was great, but also being right in the heart of the city. Getting the keys from the host was seamless and Pierre was very nice. Would love to stay here again when back in Bordeaux.. 😢: It did miss AC , with it reaching 39 degrees, but there were large good fans provided, that did help. The internal steps to property have a winding stone staircase to the 1st floor , which needs to be negotiated carefully. We couldn’t get any streaming channels on the TV ..
😊: We had an amazing stay! The apartment is beautifully designed and spacious, the beds are very comfortable, and the host is incredibly friendly and helpful. Location is really very very central! A special thank you for the three fans – they were a lifesaver in this incredible heat!. 😢: The only downside is that the bathroom could use a renovation..
😊: Location is excellent. Short walk to Rue Saint Catherine. Large apartment with high ceilings and beautiful large windows and features. Plenty of storage and cupboard space. Three large industrial fans that were needed during the heat wave endured particularly towards the end of the stay. Washing machine, toaster looked reasonably new. The shower and kitchen were dated but met our needs. The shower is over the bath. The kitchen has a dishwasher, good induction stove, oven, microwave and small fridge. Enough to make meals and enjoy in the dining area. The utensils & crockery was a bit hit & miss. Appeared some of the crockery was new. The frypan etc were a bit old but did the job. Overall the positives outweighed the areas needing some renovation.. 😢: The steps are a relatively tight spiral staircase and the lighting is not the best however luckily the apartment is on the first floor. Once you get your bags up its not too bad but you do need to be careful. No air-conditioning like many of the old apartments in Southern France which would usually not be an issue with the exception of major heat waves like we endured where the temperature reached 40C in late June. The first few days were reasonable temperatures and the big fans did their job but when nearing 40C it was difficult until the night. Many reviews mention the shower is hand held and not attached to the wall, which I thought should be an easy fix but we did not find it a major concern to be honest. Having said that with so many complaints it should be fixed. We had no issues whatsoever with noise in fact its a very quiet street. The floor boards are indeed very creaky in the hallway but again not really an issue. All in all if you don't mind some of the older ( tired) fittings the character of the apartment is great..
Check-in did not go well. I followed the host agency’s instructions snd notified the concierge of our time of arrival. No response. When we arrived, nobody was there. We were eventually let in by the woman who had come by to clean the apartment, 1 hour and 45 minutes after our arrival. I later let the host agency know about the issues we encountered at check-in and did not receive a response. The apartment was fine and mostly as described. However, the hot water tank was out of order. There was absolutely no hot water. We contacted the host immediately, but getting a hold of them was incredibly difficult (no response after business hours and none of my voicemail messages were returned). Nobody came by until 2 days after our arrival, when we were told the hot water tank would not be repaired during our stay. We were finally (after I called vrbo to complain) given access to a different apartment, in which we spent the last 2 nights our stay. I spent hours of our stay attempting to contact the host agency, leaving messages and making sure we would not miss the agency’s calls, should they call. We accommodated their schedule (which required us, at one point, to cut a visit to a nearby town short to meet an agency employee at the apartment, only to find out on arrival that they had decided not to come until the next day). The entire stay was an incredibly frustrating and stressful experience, and the agency has told us that we would not be compensated for any of it.
