Appartement Paris 10 - One-Bedroom Apartment

😊: Very close to metro station.. 😢: It was a terrible experience. At check-in, it was impossible to get the keys. The owner did not respond to the chat, and I had to call him several times (using a French SIM, which will be problematic for foreign guests) before he finally said he would come and hand over the keys. I had to wait on the street in an unfriendly environment. There were many police cars with sirens in the area, and I also noticed people under the influence. The apartment itself was cluttered - most of the storage spaces were unusable because other people's belongings were already there. This included not just the closets, but also the bathroom cabinets and even the refrigerator. The floor and everything else were covered in a sticky layer of old dirt, especially in the kitchen and bathroom. The lamps were dusty. The windows were narrow, making the apartment generally gloomy even during the day. The owner uses an air freshener in the apartment, but it does not help mask the musty smell. This was the worst place to stay in Paris and absolutely not worth the money..

😊: The apartment was in a good location. Despite what I have had to report below, the host was friendly.. 😢: Not sure where to start with this. The main problem was that the apartment was nothing like its description on Booking.com. It was sold as a 2 bedroom apartment, with a bedroom with a double bed, a second bedroom with another bed, and a living room with a sofabed. In reality there was one double bed in the one bedroom in the apartment, totally unsuitable for two separate people. Nor was there the hot tub or balcony described as features. This was not important for us, but it did convey a totally misleading impression of the quality of the facilities. The hot tub was noted in the one review which gave 10/10 for the apartment - there is no way such a thing would have fitted in the small bathroom, so how this description came about is a mystery. Communication was poor - I found it hard to make contact before our arrival, and had to try to get Booking.com to help. On arrival it took 15 minutes and the intervention of another resident of the block to get in. As we were not given the code to enter the apartment block , we had to ask another resident to let us in. The apartment appeared to have been hastily prepared - the sheet on the (only) bed was still slightly damp and the heating turned up very high, presumably to dry it. When we expressed our horror at the lack of a second bed, the host seemed surprised and said we should take it up with Booking.com (which I have). He found a sheet so that my friend could sleep on the sofa which was uncomfortable, not being designed for this use ( and not being a sofabed as advertised). Beyond that, no further effort was made to source any further bedding though we were staying for 4 nights..
