La maison est superbe dans la splendeur des vielles pierres,des générations passées avec un sentiment de paix. Chacun a trouvé son espace avec la joie de nous retrouver pour des repas en terrasse.. This is a stunningly beautiful property in a small hamlet, a real feast for the senses. The interior is full of art, the exterior full of flowers. The views are, as the owner notes, breathtaking. Early morning sounds in late June included owls, (faint) bells from the sheep in the farm below, the buzzing of bees, and birdsong. Between the terraces and indoor living areas, there are numerous spaces for talking, reading, or puttering. Despite the historic ambience, we found modern amenities--dishwasher, washing machine, a well stocked kitchen. You can find three or four hikes directly from La Bastide, with others starting in nearby towns or villages. Le Vigan, 10 - 15 minutes away, is a very nice town with cafes, restaurants, boulangeries, a Saturday and Tuesday market, and a good tourist information center. The owner and caretakers are gracious and helpful with suggestions and directions for excursions--if you can bring yourself to leave.

What a great place! run by nice people. We were 7 of us and had a great time. The place is very nice, clean and have all the facility we need. Very quiet in a tiny little village 5 mn drive from market etc...We all had a great time and if we go back in the area will have no problem coming back. Thank you Martine and Sonia

Our Party of 12 adults spent a wonderful 10 days at la Bastide d'Esparon. Everyone was delighted with the house, the restoration, furnishings and lovingly placed artefacts. The property is clean and well maintained and the caretaker very helpful. The whole place has a very special ambiance and every day started and ended with very convivial breakfasts and dinners on the terraces or around the table in the living room. The house is in a superb location with stunning views and although it is quite a steep road to reach it, the road was always empty and it was never a problem. There is a supermarket within 10 mins drive and shopping was easy. We walked every day, both from the house and on the GR's within a 25 km radius. There are some classic walks, spectacular views and lovely villages. It was a very happy stay in a very special place.

Staying at Esparon is a wonderful experience. The location of the village is exceptional and makes you feel like staying at the top of the world, contemplating the wilderness from above, enjoying beautiful sunrises and sunsets, watching eagles in the sky. The house itself has very good vibes, with many terraces and great views on the countryside. It is decorated with lots of taste, artistic touches and much charm. The kitchen is large and great if you love cooking, the rooms are comfortable and very quiet, the living area is huge at it is outside and inside. The nature around is delicious, you can swim in fresh rivers or do great walks. I was very happy to have finally discovered the Cevennes, a place that many of my friends rave about. Martine is a great person with a wonderful sense of hospitality, something you can feel in every corner of her amazing house
