Biarritz - Résidence Victoria surf - Face océan

😊: The location was very good with a balcony overlooking the sea. There were a lot of good restaurants in easy walking distance. The walk in shower was very good.. 😢: We were not made aware when we checked in that the main doors to the building were locked at night and were not given either a key or a code to enable us to enter. When we did discover this and were locked out, but fortunately were let in by another resident, we contacted Thomas Real Estate but never received a reply. The following day we were given the entry code by another resident. On a third occasion when the code changed, fortunately a cleaner was going in and gave me the new one. There were no instructions about how anything operated in the property or who to contact as we had previously had no response, so we had to find out by trial and error. There was no space in the cupboards to put our clothes in as they were already full, so we had to live out of our suitcases for which there was just room to leave on the floor as the room was a lot smaller than it seems from the picture. There were only 2 towels when we arrived and expected them to be changed after the first week, but the room wasn’t serviced at all during our 2 week stay. We had bought 2 beach towels with us so used those as well. There was no wi-fi available which we knew before we went but it did cause a lot of problems..

I love the apartment and the location was perfect. Unfortunately, communication was very poor. There were some issues I intended to communicate to the hosts but my emails and texts were mostly ignored. Checking was poor, we were not given the code to get into the building after hours. ( luckily a resident gave it to us). Basic supplies ( hygienic paper) was missing. I was finally advised by the manager that it’s my job to buy it. Coming from the USA , we are not used to having to think about shopping for toilet paper for a two day stay. Other than that Biarritz is a great town, which I have visited many times. Next time , I will try to find a host that owns the property, instead of a management firm. They are usually more attentive to guest needs. What was baffling there was no attempt at trying to solve my issues and definitely never an apology.
