This was our fifth visit to La Plagne but our first time staying with Ice and Fire. Overall, we were very impressed and this was the best chalet holiday we have experienced so far. Cosy, comfortable and conveniently positioned right beside the piste. Johanna and David were outstanding hosts, and effortlessly produced quality meals of restaurant standard every evening, accompanied by bottled wine. Another lovely touch was the "cheese story" each evening. The meal was rounded off with a different local cheese each night, accompanied by notes regarding its origins and how it was made. Canapes and cocktails added further to the experience, and there was cake and fresh bread to return to every day after skiing. We shared with a number of other guests, none of whom we had met before the holiday, and all ended up being great friends by the end of the week. There was a great selection of board games, which Johanna and David joined in with after they had finished working. Ice and Fire were fantastic to deal with - the entire experience was very personal. Heather organised our flight transfers from Geneva which went very smoothly and the mini bus was far more comfortable than the large coach transfers from Grenoble we had been used to on previous visits. Skis were hired through Rental Republic who provided an in-chalet fitting service, so no traipsing up and down hills with ski equipment. There were no boot warmers, but the boot room was well heated, and my boots felt warm every morning. We had a lovely meal in the cosy Grizzli restaurant located a few minutes' walk away on the chalet hosts' day off, and enjoyed a few apres ski drinks in the bar located up the stairs in the building next door to the restaurant and the Spar shop. La Plagne is a great resort and has something for everyone. Not the most attractive in terms of buildings, but the skiing area is vast, and you can ski the beautiful high up reds and blues from the Roche de Mio on a clear day, or ski down between the trees when visibility is poor to Montalbert or Montchavin.

Chalet Bon Vie is a great place to stay for skiing in La Plagne and Paradiski. Lots of really nice touches and good hosts make this far better than most ski chalets. I would definitely recommend and hope to go back.||||BOOKING AND CONTACT||Booking was easy and Ice and Fire, the operators, were really helpful. They also sorted out a couple of problems I had getting my skis sent over to France even though it wasn't in any way their problem at all - great customer service!||||LOCATION||Chalet Bon Vie is in Plagne Villages and is an easy ski out onto the blue Ecarte piste for easy access to the Bergerie lift and the rest of La Plagne. There is also a small lift that takes you from Villages down to Plagne Centre that runs from 9:00-20:30 each evening and free bus services running until about 23:30. Plagne Villages is quite small but has a Spar, a couple of restaurants, gift shop and ski hire.||||ACCOMMODATION||Chalet Bon Vie is a comfortable and cosy chalet with 5 rooms. My room had a good bed with nice touches like bathrobe and slippers and a view over the mountains. The lounge was great, with a log burning fire, games, TV and a small selection of DVDs.||||The company have obviously given a lot of thought to what people want and need, right down to providing chocolate bars and sweets in the boot room to take out with you in case you get hungry or need a little extra sugar to see you through to the end of the day. ||||FOOD AND DRINK||You are very well fed at Bon Vie. The chalet hosts served cocktails and canapés before a 4 course meal which included bottles of red and white wine. The food was always very good. The chalet hosts were great cooks but be warned; you need to leave room for pudding, and a different cheese each night!

Arrived back yesterday from chalet Bon vie with a group of 12 (10 adults and 2 children). Just to say the whole week was amazing. Due to unforeseen circumstances the usual hosts had to return back to the UK before we arrived so duties were taken on by Heather (owner of Ice & Fire) and Kai. ||||The chalet was lovely and light, very clean and very comfortable. Ok, the rooms weren't massive, but we took up the whole chalet so it was used more as a home by the group. That said, the bedrooms were very comfy and warm and there was plenty of hot water available at all times in the modern bathrooms. We stopped in room 4 which has a double below and bunk above, which our 5 year old absolutely loved. The quality toiletries and bath robes were a nice touch too.||||Now the food and hosting. Simply put it was just Excellent. Heather was very friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble, great rapport with the kids and kept us supplied with copious amounts of tea at all times of the day. Kai's food was out of this world. Restaurant quality dishes every night. Canapés and different cocktail every night to start, starter, main, dessert and speciality local cheese course to end. They even catered for the two kids at an earlier time, serving the same main and dessert as the adults had later, all hand made and freshly cooked. No horrible chicken nuggets or burgers here. ||||The chalet comes with a free bar stocked with beer, wine and soft drinks as well as a fruit bowl and neat touch with chocolate bars and sweets placed in the boot room to take out on the slopes. ||||Finally the location. Second to none. Literally turn left out of the front door, walk 15 feet, put on skis and join the blue run which runs adjacent to the chalet. At the end of the day a good schuss off the blue run leads you up the path and down a track straight back to under the balcony of the chalet. Easy enough for my 5 year old to do at the end if every day. Superbe ! |||| Simon - du 10 au 17 mars 2013

My partner and I stayed in Chalet Bon-Vie run by Ice & Fire for a week in February. A very nice clean chalet, good towels and toiletries. We had room 2 on the ground floor, perfectly fine for a weeks skiing. Good bathroom with bath and shower over, always loads of hot water when you needed it. Drew's cooking was excellent as was Holly's delicious cakes. The perfect hosts who made everyone welcome. The chalet has a comfortable lounge with TV and a lovely log burner which made it very homely. You can ski from the door, behind the chalet directly onto a blue run.||The area of La Plagne is excellent for intermediates and has a good snow record. A very good lift system, most are chairs or gondolas and it's easy to find your way around the huge area, which is linked to Les Arc by cable car. We found several nice places for lunch, Matafan in Belle Plagne was great as was the restaurant by the lift in La Roche. Saturdays are very quiet and we had some runs all to ourselves. Marvelous!! We would certainly go back.

Got back from a week in La Plagne today and I can't say enough good words about Chalet Bon Vie.||||The chalet is in an ideal location, is bright and clean and compared to the typical French apartments and hotels I have stayed in the past spacious, even the smaller bedrooms (of which I was in the smallest). The layout of the communal second floor (lounge, kitchen and dining areas) allows for interaction between all guests and hosts no matter where they are on the second floor.||The chalet is located just off a blue run to one of the main lifts, with the snow having being skied often enough to easily ski onto it. Just my luck though, the lift company/pisters decided to actually piste it for our final day, so we could literally ski in and out to within a few steps of the front door.||||The hosts themselves are fantastic. Drew and Holly are very friendly and very helpful, doing all they could to assist with any questions or queries we had. On top of that, Drew is an excellent cook. Having been a chef for thirteen years, the meals he served us were of restaurant quality despite having chalet facilities to use. Personally I ate and enjoyed dishes I would never have ordered in a restaurant. Except for Camembert cheese. Even Drew acknowledges that is foul! The unlimited beer, wine and soft drinks that comes with the chalet went down a treat too, as did Holly's cocktails.||||We were so impressed by Drew and Holly that we invited them to ski with us and they were gracious to accept, joining us for lunch and an afternoon ski having done their work in the chalet in the morning.||||My only slight niggles were that the single beds were narrow and took a second night of sleep to get used to them, and the shower gels ran out quickly.||||A real pleasure to stay at Bon Vie and should I return to La Plagne in the future this will be the first place I look at when deciding where to stay.
