Chalet Jennifer

We travelled as a group of 13 over the Christmas holiday to Chalet Jennifer. As we were a combination of adults and teenagers, the chalet catered well for our needs. The rooms are traditional and fairly basic but the beds were really comfortable and the chalet was located in a peaceful, pretty part of La Tania. I slept very well there. As previously stated, the walls between the bathrooms are quite thin so you can hear someone else having a bath if you are having one too but as we were a group it wasn’t really a problem. The public area is quite small but the seating area accommodated us all and we had the bonus of an open wood fire which was very atmospheric.|The main positive for us was the chalet host, Carol. She is a fabulous and very capable cook and we felt that we were very well looked after during our week. We had some lovely meals and she bent over backwards to accommodate all of our foodie idiosyncrasies. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, Carol baked some gorgeous cakes including a birthday cake for one of the teenagers in our party and dinner was delicious, especially the tartiflette and Christmas dinner. She was also very easy going and tolerant of the teenagers in our group. Thanks Carol.|In terms of location, the red run is a short walk and takes you straight to the gondola. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at the chalet. For me it was a 3* chalet with 4* food and good value for what we paid.

L'emplacement du chalet est idéal pour accéder aux pistes ou au centre-ville. Les repas préparés par Will et Emma étaient délicieux tous les soirs et ils étaient des hôtes très agréables. Les chambres et les douches étaient un peu petites, mais la qualité des repas compensait largement ce petit inconvénient.

The chalet was most disappointing, a view shared by our fellow guests. In particular, the quality of the food served was generally regarded as not being to an acceptable standard, our chalet hosts managed to cook 2 things from the tour operator's website (Skibeat) menu. They also managed to serve uncooked brownies which one other guest pointed out they should have turned the oven on, but still they served it! ||Having brought this to the attention of the area manager (Lisa) the chalet hosts were given a timetable to follow, which obviously did nothing to improve their cooking.I know the chalet hosts are given training before they start and practise the dishes, so this comes down to lack of supervision, or they just didn't turn up for it and no one noticed!||The fact that we had to received no discounts for single occupancy even though the food and wine were not consumed and we had 2 children travelling with us.||They do not change sheets or towels on the basis that they are trying to be environmentally friendly and fail to provide anything else to use in the sauna!||The living area and dining area were inadequate for the number of guests the chalet was accommodating; and the noise attenuation in the bedrooms non-existent and therefore unacceptable. This was not a one family chalet, It was also not particularly clean.||Substantial upgrades and general consideration as to its amenities are required by the company before this chalet will get anywhere near what they are trying to sell it as.||I have contacted the company direct by email on a number of occasions to try and pass on my review, but no-one has bothered to reply. I will not be inspired to re-book a Ski Beat chalet ever again.

Just returned from Chalet Jennifer and wanted to praise Becky and Bernard for how good they were. They are a young couple who made sure we had a good holiday offering friendly conversation, made recommendations where possible and great chefs. The chocolate cake made by Becky was a definite highlight of the week! Cooked breakfasts are served at 8am, usually 3 cooked items or something else eg. omelettes or pancakes. Evening meal was a set 3 course meal with good variety each night and unlimited wine||||I have stayed in several chalets and its of the usual standard with an open fire and good sized communal areas. The rooms aren't huge but you don't go on a ski holiday to sit in your bedroom! Only bad comment is that we paid extra to have a room with a bath and we were disappointed that it wasn't a full sized bath and due to it being a sloped ceiling you couldn't stand up for a shower either but only a minor point. ||||The chalet is in a good location only a few minutes walk to the slopes and the boot room has ample seating and boot dryers. La Tania, à moins de 10 minutes à pied, est un tout petit village avec peu de commerces, mais on y trouve quelques bons restaurants pour les soirées de repos des hôtes, ainsi que plusieurs bars.

Just returned from a week in La Tania - Chalet Jennifer. The property has paper thin walls - I really do mean paper thin - and you could hear every single word from the next room - even them breathing !!! You would have more privacy camping !!! If you don't mind this then fine but we spent the whole week whispering to each other - spoilt the week really. The location to the slopes is fairly good. Food was acceptable but not great. They could make this chalet so much nicer with little or no extra cost - light the fire in the lounge - make it cosy. Keep the entrance clear of snow - makes it so much more inviting. If you offer a cooked breakfast - do it properly - not 2 or 3 items - don't do it half measures . Sort the WIFI out !!!

Stayed here in January 2013, bit of a late review! But it was clean and comfortable with great hosts and great food. This was my first time in a chalet and I quickly learnt my lesson with the plentiful supply of 'Chalet Wine' after a headache on the first day!||||I actually fell ill whilst there, some kind of horrendous flu like symptoms so lost my last 2days on the slopes but the hosts were fantastically helpful. Good access to the piste with what is actually only a short walk down the road to join on to red Moretta Blanche.

This was our first catered chalet experience and so we were unsure what to expect. The chalet itself is cosy and comfortable. It is situated a short walk to the slopes. Our room (5) was small, but ok. Comfy beds, ample storage (though we stored the empty cases in the bathroom) not a lot of floor space, but adequate. Plenty hot water,, decent shower, even if you had to enter sideways. Balcony, but no chairs on it. The room tended to be dark. Sun in the morning did not light up more than the bottom of the bed, and when the wardrobe door was open you couldn't really see inside it as it blocked out the light. That said, all was clean and comfortable. More pillows would have been good.||The communal lounge was cosy and comfortable, with a good sized TV and DVD player (a few DVD's were lying around, or you could bring your own). Dinner was served at one big table. Admittedly most of us had to sit on benches, which might be an issue for some people. It was a bit awkward getting in and out, and meant you were kind of stuck until everyone else moved. Chairs would be better, and also more comfortable. ||What made the holiday for us were the hosts: Kyle and Chloe could not have been better. They anticipated your every need. Eg: I came downstairs with a bottle of gin and one of tonic before dinner, and was immediately offered lemon, which was cut into neat slices for me. The food was first class, geneous portions, and beautifully presented. Wine and water were regularly topped up at dinner. Unfortunately, the quality of wine was poor, and did not do justice to Kyle's cooking; so we bought some decent plonk from the shop on occasions. The coffee and cakes were good. And K and C offered to make sandwiches for our lunch on the slopes, for which they charged a reasonable 3 euros. There was also the option of buying crisps, chocolate bars, or even small beers from "tuck shop". An honesty system was employed for this. The hosts offered information on anything required. They were fantastic. It's difficult to rate the chalet objectively, as they were SO good we tended to accept any minor flaws with the accommodation.

Cosy chalet, well located between the main town and the piste.||The chalet hosts, Kyle and Chloe, were fantastic and couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. The quality of the food was exceptional and the portion sizes were more than generous...there was always more of everything if you wanted to stuff yourself. We even had eggs benedict for breakfast one morning...a particular treat for me!||The rooms are small but they are cosy and clean and all that you need on a ski holiday...there was always plenty of hot water in the shower.||The boot room has boot de-humidifiers which work well and there is plenty of space for skis and boards.||Local Crsyal ski reps were also professional and helpful.||All in all the best chalet holiday that we've had.||The chalet hosts had one night off and we went to Hotel Telemark for a meal. La nourriture et le service étaient bons, mais tout a été gâché par un grand groupe de jeunes Anglais tellement bruyants que nous avions du mal à nous entendre parler… et comme ils résidaient à l’hôtel, la direction ne leur a pas demandé de se taire.
