Charmant chalet près des pistes dans petite station de ski

Great house and surroundings! Warm welcome of Julie and husband!

We had a delightfully relaxing 8 nights at this beautifully quirky chalet, Julie and her husband waited until nearly midnight to welcome us to their chalet as we had problems with our flight and ended up 12 hours later than expected. The chalet was lovely and clean and set in an idyllic location with only one house in the vicinity, the owners were charming. The views the first morning were breathtaking as it was dark when we arrived so had no idea what to expect. It snowed the first day to the delight of our 3 grandchildren who spent the morning bombing up and down the slope beside the chalet on their bumboards!! We had five days of perfect skiing at the nearby ski resort of Valberg, which was about a 30 minute drive and was one of the best ski resorts we have visited accommodating all levels of skiers. Unfortunately the local ski station at Roubion was not open due to a severe lack of snow this year. We ate both in at the Chalet and out and can highly recommend Chez Joelle in Roubion village who opened her restaurant especially for us. Also Le Sapin Blanc at Les Launes where there is a very reasonable set menu and the most amazing fondues! The Chalet’s one bathroom proved fun with 8 of us staying but we soon got a good rota system up and running and fortunately there was a second loo downstairs. We will definitely be booking Julie’s chalet again very soon.

Julie and Jean-Claude were fantastic hosts, very communicative and even provided a lift into town at the end of our stay to catch a bus. The property is brilliantly situated, with three great circular walks that take you through Roubion (two great places to eat) and back to the property. A great place to stay.

We had a warm welcome, communication with the owners was great. Exactly on time or coming and leaving. The house is in a quiet surroundings, very pleasant! Paths for hiking nearby. The wifi is great on the whole, very sometimes it had a hickup. Everything we needed was there. Beds okay, matrasses a bit sagged. Some places in the kitchen were a sticky/dirty, in particular the top shelves etc. Other cons: no shower, only possibility is to sit in the bath and use a handshower. And no dishwasher too. The garden was great, so was the balcony, views, parking place near the house, lots of space for two of us, cosy chairs, good LCD, fireplace. Thanks to the owners. We had a very pleasant two weeks!
