Charmante Maison Bretonne au Cœur de l'Île Grande

😊: The apartment is spacious, well equipped, and simply but tastefully furnished. The availability of a parking space is certainly a major plus, considering that all the parking spaces were always full when we stayed there in August, right in the middle of high season. Thanks to the instructions we received before our arrival, we had no difficulty finding where to park the car. Communication with the host/consiergerie was easy and the answers were quick and helpful.. 😢: The apartment was not “spotless clean” as I had read in the reviews and had hoped it would be. The fridge was covered in fingerprints, which suggested that it had not even been wiped down, and there were hairs left on the shower tiles and on the shower hose. The toilet in the main bathroom also needed cleaning, which I had to take care of myself. Nothing dramatic, but it certainly did not live up to expectations. I should also mention, as others have pointed out, that the smell of damp and mould in the laundry room was really unpleasant, and at certain times of the day it reached the bedrooms upstairs..

😊: The location is excellent because it is right in the middle of the island so easy access to all the beaches located around the island. Local shop is literally 4 min walk and nothing is ever more than 15 min walk so you never have to use the car. Cark park, although unclear to begin with, is just around the house so very handy. Restaurant is next door with obvious pros and cons. The property is all modern inside, good appliances and 2 toilets (1 downstairs and 1 upstairs) Shower is great, we had an issue with the bathroom handle but owner quickly responded and it got sorted out. Recycling bin literally outside the front which is well handy.. 😢: The location is also its downfall and it is located at the crossroad of all the ways to get in and out of the island so there's a huge amount a traffic and it gets quite noisy from very early on in the day and late at night It's perhaps better in low season. There is also in lingering smell in the house, may be due to high season and the lack of water/rain. No welcome pack so we had to work out how to work out the wifi and other things around the house, such as where to empty the black bin and glass recycling..

😊: A wonderful place to stay on Île Grande. The apartment was immaculate and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It’s just a short walk from the village shop, which also serves as a friendly café and bar. We loved Île Grande, and the apartment was the perfect base for our two days of rest during our cycling tour of Brittany. We’d happily stay here again.. 😢: Nothing.
