Chez Mapi

😊: Mapi was absolutely lovely Very warm and welcoming The location was superb and the property was very well equipped St Jean Pied de Port is a charming place set in beautiful surroundings. 😢: We were there in the heat wave and thank goodness the property was within an ancient building as it was cool even without air conditioning or fans The property is accessed down an internal corridor with a coded door from the main street Rue de la citadelle There are some flats above and chez Mapi is on the ground floor with it’s own front door The access corridor opens out into a lobby which has a skylight The living room/kitchen and the front door have opaque glass windows as does one of the bedrooms The light into those areas of the property is from the skylight in the lobby and the glassed access door from the main street The bathroom has 2 windows which look out onto the wall of the neighbouring building and the second bedroom has a window which looks out onto an internal courtyard belonging to a neighbouring property The bedroom window is quite high up almost like being in a basement We found the flat very comfortable everything was brand new and it was cool inside Some people might want a view but when you go outside you are right by the Spanish bridge and the church and the river right in the hustle and bustle of the little town and there are swifts swooping and people sitting in the shade of the notre dame gate It is very atmospheric and the views are lovely for an evening walk around the rampant walls.
