Comfortable 19th Century House, Less Than 1.30 From Paris - Sergines-Burgundy

We enjoyed a fantastic family holiday in this house. The house was huge, full of character and very well equipped with everything we needed. The owners greeted us on arrival, were very friendly and spoke English. The village was quiet but my teenage boys still made friends with some locals and they played football together in the evenings. We took a day trip into Paris by catching the train from nearby Sens. There wasn’t a shop in the village but there is an Aldi supermarket about 6 miles away where we bought everything we needed. If you are looking for a quiet holiday where you can immerse yourself in French culture then this is the place for you.

We arrived at very short notice and the owner was very responsive. The house is big and comfortable with a small enclosed garden great for sunbathing and for young kids to play. Good heating. The house has everything you may need: complete kitchen with lots of pans and cutlery, books, an outdoor table and even bikes. The kitchen is large, with modern appliances and has a dining table and there is another table in an enclosed veranda. The tv is now a flat screen, not the one more old one in the pictures. Its 2 blocks from the bakery and small supermarket. The village is very quiet and you can hear many birds singing all day long. And see the stars at night. Its quite sunny because it faces south. My only issue is that it is in front of the church, that offers a lovely view but the bells are very noisy particularly at 7 am, though we eventually got used to it.

The owners were very helpful through the whole process including doing some maps of the area and what to do local to Sergines. The house is lovely with plenty of character and provides everything needed down to even providing scooters and bicycles for the children. We would definitely stay here again at some point in the future and I would strongly recommend if you are looking to stay in that region of France especially as most places are 30 mins to an hour drive away including Disney.

We enjoyed our week in this authentic french house. It has some nice features and is in the centre of the village opposite the church. Guy and Aurora met us and showed around. Everything was explained to us by Guy who speaks very good english. There are lots of places to explore, Fontainebleau is a must,. We enjoyed our stay.

Wir, zwei Erwachsene und zwei Teenager, haben sehr viel Freude gehabt an den vielen Überraschungen, die das Haus geboten hat, z.B. eine wunderschöne Treppe, alte Schränke und Kommoden, tolles Porzellan und Dekovasen etc..Dennoch war in der Küche alles vorhanden, was man zur modernen Bequemlichkeit braucht (Spülmaschine, Waschmaschine, Herd und Backofen), also eine gelungene Mischung zwischen Vergangenheit und Gegenwart. Von Sergines aus konnte man viele Ausflüge in interessante Städte machen, selbst ein Tagesausflug mit dem Zug nach Paris vom Bahnhof in Sens war problemlos und kostengünstig möglich.Der zum Haus gehörende Garten bot viel Möglichkeit zur Erholung. Auch der Kontakt mit dem Vermieter war herzlich und ganz einfach. Wir können den Aufenthalt nur empfehlen. Allerdings sollte man akzeptieren, dass es es sich um ein historisches Gebäude handelt, was man an den Bädern und Toiletten merkt, die absolut in Ordnung waren, aber vielleicht nicht ganz leicht nachträglich zu integrieren waren. Wer gerne lange ungestört schläft, wird morgens um 7.00 von den Kirchenglocken geweckt, denn das Haus ist quasi das erste Haus am Platz. Aber selbst unsere Teenager- Töchter fanden, dass der Charme des Hauses diese kleinen Beeinträchtigungen wettgemacht hat. Das Angebot der Fahrräder, die zum Haus gehörten, ist ebenfalls ein großer Pluspunkt. Wegen der ungewöhnlichen Hitze haben wir diese aber leider nicht viel genutzt. Alles in allem haben wir unseren Aufenthalt genossen und uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Wir hoffen, dass das Haus noch viele Liebhaber finden wird. D. Lütkenhaus

Das Haus bietet 4 Schlafzimmer, wobei ein Schlafzimmer (für ein Kind) an ein Schlafzimmer angrenzt. Insgesamt 2 Badezimmer und 2 Toiletten. Wir waren zu viert und hatten viel Platz für uns. Auch ein kleines Gärtchen für die Ostereiersuche war vorhanden. Die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet mit allem, was man braucht. Wir waren Selbstversorger und hatten viel Platz zum Kochen und Essen in der großen Küche. Parken ist auch kein Problem. Die Aussicht auf eine Kirche mit mossbewachsenen Bäumen ist sehr idyllisch, fast schon mystisch. Das Dörfchen Sergines ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge. Auxerre, Troyes, Provins oder Fontainebleue sind z.B. in ungefähr einer Stunde zu erreichen. In Sergines gibt einen Bäcker. Die nächsten gut sortierten Supermärkte findet man in im Nachbarort Bray sur Seine.

Five stars. We stayed at this house for the month of September, 2013 and we were very satisfied. The house was very clean and comfortable and the owner was responsive to our every request. The good people of Sergines are very friendly and kind. The house is located about 20 km from Sens which has a great Monday morning market and beautiful gothic cathedral. Fontainebleau and Chateau Vaux le Vicomte are about an hour's drive away. It is also convenient for visiting areas in Burgundy, Champagne and the Ile -de-France. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking on the evenings we chose to stay in. Sens has many good restaurants and we attended several concerts and festivals during our stay. The area is very rural with well tended farmer's fields in every direction. The owner provided information on hiking/biking trails which traversed fields and forests in the area. The house is located across from the town church with bells ringing every half hour and the neighbor's roosters crowed faithfully every morning. This is a peaceful, relaxing and quiet destination. We loved it!
