😊: The appartment is stylish and clean. 😢: I had a very bad experience prior to check-in. I received an email 2 days before asking for a 500 € deposit through a link. For a bit of context I am initially a parisian who's moved to Nantes 3 years ago and, since then, I travel to Paris twice a month, each time in a different hotel/airbnb... so I'm really familiar with the parisian market. This is the FIRST TIME I've been asked such a thing after booking. The way it's asked makes it clear that you will not receive check-in information unless you make that deposit. It definitely feels like a scam at first because, even if it is mentionned in the property details on Booking.com, it is very easy to miss it. So I answered saying that I didn't feel comfortable at all to provide such a thing and wrote to Booking in the meatime to make sure. Mind you they gaslighted me saying they "never had such a response with their other 120 properties"... yeah sure, that is why Reddit is filled with messages about that but sure. At this point it is the day before my arrival, Booking doesn't answer me. When the D-day arrived, I had no choice but to pay because the night was not refundable. Mind you, there is a fee to pay for making the deposit ! Then, I had to call several times to finally get an answer after an hour and be able to go to the place. I had booked for just one person and both the bed in the badroom and the couch were prepared, making the living room unusable. I DO NOT RECOMMEND, there are plenty of nice places in Paris, closer, cheaper and definitely not asking you for money after booking while keeping your keys hostage..
