Cottage in the historic heart of Sancerre 2 minutes walk

I stayed in this gite for 2 weeks while I attended French immersion classes at the Coeur de France. It is about a 4 minute walk from the gite as is the centre of the village. The gite itself is very spacious and comfortable and very clean, but it does have 2 flights of quite steep stairs, one from the ground level entrance up to the main level and another one up to the bedrooms and full bathroom. There is a water closet on the main level as well as a laundry room with sink, washer & dryer, kitchen dining table and sofa and chair. The kitchen is well equipped, and I cooked full meals there most evenings. The hosts, Laurence and Laurant were so kind and welcoming and went above and beyond to be helpful, picking me up at the train upon arrival and taking me back to the train for departure, as well as taking me to the supermarket so I could stock up on provisions. There is a general store in the village where you can pick up a few basics as well as a lovely boulangerie right down the street from the gite and everything is walking distance. I would not hestitate to stay there again, and will miss my little home away from home in Sancerre!

In a quaint part of the old town, narrow streets. No clue why it mentions River front" in the title, the river is many kilometers away. The Marachal restaurant around the corner is superb. Note that the hosts only speak French.

Superb<br>#128578; Location was great, close to parking and easy to get in and out of Sancerre. The kitchen was very well equipped and the full laundry was fantastic.<br>#128577; Even though the host provided wifi, Sancerre is renowned for having bad connection.

Superb<br>#128578; large 2 bedroom 1.5 barh apt on 2 levels with kitchen living room and washer dryer. garage space was nice. location is great. hosts were gracious and helpful. all in all one of the best stays of our 2 week cycling trip.<br>#128577; stairs were doable but steep. necessary for the horizontal space available in a tightly packed town like sancerre. not possible have on one level without being in countryside which limits access to downtown.
