Domaine du Bal

😊: The house is lovely and quirky with interesting furniture and artwork. The bedrooms were comfortable. The kitchen contained lots of crockery and equipment. The swimming pool was a good temperature during a very hot week and an excellent size with comfortable sun loungers and blow up beds. The dining room and outdoor terrace contained tables to seat all of us. We enjoyed the extensive “park” including the table tennis table and pétanque area. The boulangerie is a very short walk away and the bread and pastries were excellent; the patisserie in Touques was excellent for cakes. The location is excellent for Deauville, Trouville, Honfleur, Villers-sur-mer and the zoo near Lisieux.. 😢: The bedrooms were hot at night but this was during an uncharacteristically hot week (32 deg C) in spite of the heaters which could be set to blow cold air but they weren’t very effective. The house is in a very rural position which is great but our stay coincided with the frog mating and ant flying season(late May to mid-June); and the frogs were very loud at night - this only affected the sleep of one person; the rest of us found them amusing and soporific. The 2 fridges struggled, perhaps because they needed defrosting, and there weren’t any cupboards to store food..

😊: Lovely Manoir and grounds, we particularly enjoyed the spacious garden offering many areas to relax, utilising the outdoor furniture provided and natural shade of the mature trees and shrubs. The pool is a good size and a very pleasant space to cool off and relax during the day on the loungers provided. We were able to cater for 16 people in the dining room just off the kitchen and the property had the additional benefit of an outdoor BBQ area. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Domaine du Bal and would definitely visit again.. 😢: The initial cleanliness was not great, but this was soon remedied via the owner who arranged an additional clean the following day. There is some noise from the nearby airport from planes flying over the property but this was not an major issue for us..
