Family Castle in Fontenay

We visited Fontenay to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary with our family and friends. Over the week we stayed, there were 12 of us. There were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and an enormous amount of space. The children spent a lot of time in the swimming pool or roaming the large estate. The house, both outside and inside, is just what you would expect from the photos. It comes with a working barbecue, which is handy for a communal meal. There is a well stocked local supermarket only three minutes' drive away and Bourges and Nevers are also interesting places to visit within a 40 minutes drive. So if you want to get away from it all with the family, I can highly recommend Fontenay.

Arnaud and Dorothee were wonderful hosts. They took us through the house, showing us everything we would need to know. When we had trouble starting the outdoor grill, we wrote a message to them, and they came right over to show us what we were doing wrong! Staying in the chateau is like being dropped into history! Wonderful. The kitchen is wonderfully updated,, and although I did not swim, my fellow guests say that the pool is very refreshing! We would definitely stay here again!
