FAMILY HOUSE IN THE LOT, near Cahors.

If we did not have a French speaker along with us it would’ve been impossible to communicate and access the facility which is used by many of the family which owns it. The access to the property is a short distance up and extremely steep hill, which was difficult by automobile and impossible, for older people anyway, to walk. Douelle was a wonderful location for our side trips...with a very nice bakery.

A bright and spacious house on a quiet road in the beautiful town of Douelle. The owners and locals were very friendly. The Lot river is nearby, with a great spot for swimming for children and adults. Bus links to Cahors and nearby towns, and good train links from Cahors. Small shop and bakers in Douelle, and various restaurants. Wish I was back there now...

Très belle maison située sur les hauteurs de Douelle, qui possède véritablement une âme. Belles prestations, aussi bien intérieures qu'extérieures, très propre, rien ne manque même pas le superflu. Accueil chaleureux, agrémenté de quelques surprises de bienvenue (confiture, dosettes de café ...) Je recommande vivement.

The house is set on a hill overlooking the village of Douelle with far reaching views across the Lot Valley. There was plenty of space for three generations to be together but also room for privacy. We enjoyed the large patio with table and chairs for the family meals. There is swimming and kayaking in the river quite close by. Cahors with its attractions is a short drive away and the Lot Valley is good for sight seeing, caves, walking and cycling. The kitchen is very well equipped, we did have an occasional problem with the halogen hob, but the friendly neighbours helped us out with the loan of a stove, and I understand the hob is being replaced. A very good place to relax and enjoy the attractions of the area.
