Family manor house and outbuilding in the Pays d'Auge

On arrival, you cannot help but be impressed by this marvellous property. We were a group of five families, all greeted by the lovely Lucette, who made our stay all the more comfortable by providing cooking and cleaning when needed. There were endless activities for adults and kids, to keep us entertained for the week. The facilities were top notch, in particular the pool and outdoor kitchen areas. On a couple of days we did excursions and this part of Normandy has so much to offer, being near to old castles as well as the war memorial in Caen and the Normandy beaches. We would definitely go again.

Your kids won’t need screen time here!We have just returned from an absolutely superb week at Meautry. The house and gardens were sublime - the pictures really don’t do it justice. The house is just stunning - we loved the blend of original architecture with modern conveniences.We travelled as a group of 17 with ages ranged between 3 and 72 and there was truly something for everyone. Every hobby imaginable can be accessed here including pétanque, swimming, football, tennis, table tennis, pool, trampoline, cycling. Our kids played outdoors from morning till evening and didn’t once ask for TV! Visiting the chickens and sheep was also a real highlight, as was the delicious breakfast delivered fresh each morning. The chapel is exquisite and so special. We must give a special mention to Lucette who was so helpful, kind and who prepared us a delicious meal one evening. Thank you Lucette! And thank you Hugues for being a fantastic host and for your excellent communication throughout. We can’t wait to return!

The holiday was long in the planning with lots of excitement due to the pictures on the website. However, it was only on arrival that we realised what a great choice we had made. We were a group of 3 families, 8 children and 6 adults, on our return home we were already working out the possibilities to replicate the trip next year. The property is vast and provided space for all families to retreat if needed whilst also providing multiple spaces to come together to eat, play or relax. The swimming pool has superb views of the valley and the tennis/football pitch allowed for ample energy to be expelled. The huge outside table, firepits and treelined views provided a superb setup for dinners and relaxation. Lucette cooked for us once which was a highlight, we regret not asking her to cook for us more. The gardening and maintenance team do a superb job of maintaining the property and grounds, they were incredibly polite and accommodating, even ensuring that all children had a egg to take back to the house from the on-site chickens. A perfect venue!

superbe domaine ,calme ,vaste et doté de tous les équipements de détente (piscine, tennis, vélos, trampoline,...) ;charme certain avec une superbe vue sur la vallée et de nombreux petits jardins séparés par des haies (chapelle, jardin potager,...) ;le manoir proprement dit est bien équipé ,avec toutes les fonctionnalités modernes et avec des espaces nombreux et décorés avec gout; bref ,un environnement charmant pour une grande famille (nous avons séjourné à 18 (grands-parents, enfants, petits-enfants) ) ;de plus ,présence agréable d'un jardinier et d'une intendante qui permettent de résoudre le moindre problème ou question

This place is perfect for a week of chilling. We were a group of 12 adults and 8 small children and had a great week. The property is vast with ample room for a large gathering. The pool is great with a wonderful view and importantly with a hedged perimeter for peace of mind. The tennis court is a great addition as well. There are lovely terraced areas for lunches and evening meals with BBQs for added variety from the kitchen cooking. The morning delivery of croissants and baguettes was a welcome treat. The location is very remote which is perfect for groups looking to hang out together and not leave the property. Communication with the owner was superb. We're keen to stay again.

The property looks good in the photos but even better in real life. Our family has hired many houses over the years but this is by far our favourite, I'm sure we'll be back. There is so much space both indoors and outdoors. Tables, chairs and benches are dotted all over the grounds making it easy to sit and watch the children play or find a peaceful spot to relax. The gardens are beautifully kept and the owners are adding to them, there's a wild flower meadow which was lovely to see. There's a wood at the rear of the property which the kids went Gruffalo hunting in. Huge lawns you can just stroll around or play games on. The pool was warm and has a stunning view across a valley, which, in the early morning was filled with mist. It was a typical French countryside vista, reminiscent of childhood holidays gone past. The retractable pool cover was very useful when trying to persuade the children to get out. A delivery of fresh bread and croissants every morning made life very easy, I wish this was standard with all house rentals. Supermarkets are a short drive away the the kitchen is very well equipped. We found cooking for our group 16 a simple task. The housekeeper was very helpful and called in a couple of times while we were there to make sure all our needs were met. The few estate workers present were very friendly and unobtrusive, It was actually nice to see how the property runs and the new additions they are working on. All the bedrooms are nice with comfy mattresses and good quality linen. The estate is very quiet and we all slept very well. I cannot recommend the property highly enough, we had a wonderful time.
