Gite Au Pré du Mont st michel

😊: Location was good as near Mont saint Michelle and swimming pool was ok.. 😢: The whole place was disgusting, it was like it had never been cleaned properly. A week before arrival we received a message to pay £400 security deposit in cash, and that we needed to bring cleaning products with us to clean after ourselves as they do not provide this. Upon arrival, the outside was rustic and was ok looking, however the inside was disgusting, it’s clear this place had never had a proper clean, there were flies everywhere, the towels that were provided were old and manky, the bedsheets were ancient, and every room was dusty and everything was old/worn. The kitchen barely had all the necessary utensils and everything needed updating. When we arrived the chairs were all on the dining table, really unwelcoming and the place was just so grubby. We were only staying for 2 nights and we had plans out in the day at mont saint Michelle so we were able to put up with it for this limited time, before we drove down to La Rochelle for the main part of our holiday. Needless to say I truly believe we left this place cleaner than when we arrived. We were asked to clean bathrooms, strip the bedsheets, hoover etc. we had a few cups and plates from the morning that were in the dishwasher and when the man came to do the inspection, he wasn’t happy that these were left on in dishwasher, so we had to wash up by hand. He was clearly looking for any reason not to give deposit back, however we said it’s cleaner than when we arrived and he did return the money. I believe what happens is that they never have a proper cleaner in the property in between guests it’s just up to the previous guests to clean the property, I don’t think it’s ever been dusted nor the floors mopped as they were so grubby, and there are flies everywhere. I would expect cleaning to be included in the price. Everything was old fashioned and dated and it was lacking a lot of modern amenities. Owners very lazy and do not look after the property! This is a one star booking - do not book, it was gross!!.
