GITE DE LA PIERROSE 100 m2 avec jardin privé Proche de Bayeux et des plages du Débarquement

😊: Beautiful gîte in the countryside. It’s in a peaceful rural setting but only 20 minutes drive to Bayeux. Hosts live in the property next door and the gîte has a private gated entrance with parking for 2 cars. Very spacious open plan downstairs, extremely well-equipped kitchen, nice private garden area with outdoor seating. Upstairs there are 2 twin rooms and 1 double, a big bathroom with separate toilet. Beds were very comfortable and lovely big windows in every room. Floor-standing fans were available which was great.. 😢: Upstairs is accessed by a narrow spiral staircase. This should be fine for most people but may be challenging for those with mobility issues. It’s a very old building which creaks a lot when people move around - we found this added to the charm but is something to consider if you are a light sleeper! The driveway is quite narrow but is not a problem unless you are driving a huge SUV..

😊: We liked the property, it was really nice and above all the garden was very quiet and kept really well with it's patio area. We enjoyed the private entrance and the comfy bedrooms. The location is very good to reach the all the d-day beaches within 1 hour and the towns of Bayeux (beautiful) and Caen. The staff was lovely and helpful and left us a little treat with a bottle of cider.. 😢: The w-ifi was basically not working which wouldn't have been a big issue if not for the fact that the network in the area is not good. We also found the kitchen to be a bit dirty, especially the hob and the pots.

😊: Beautiful house in a calm location. It’s a good base for exploring Normandy. A big kitchen and a garden was a big plus. It’s under 20 minutes drive to Bayeux and it’s very easy to find.. 😢: First of all, it says on the booking that wifi is available in all areas which is simply not true. The wifi router is probably in the house next to it which wouldn’t be a problem but you get a medium strength at best. In half of the house, you can’t even get signal and we had to move around the house just to research drives for the next day because even the mobile internet signal was very weak which is also kinda expected in such a location. This is such a pitty because the place would be ideal for a longer vacation where you could also work remotely and explore the region but due to the weak wifi signal it’s not possible. Second minus would be the house accessories. We were 5 people staying for 3 nights and got one roll of paper which wasn’t even new to begin with. We were told that we have to buy more ourselves. Then we noticed, there was only one dishwasher tablet, one trash bag etc. This is definitely not a standard in the guesthouses and I wish these house rules were shared with us before the vacation since we could bring those things from home. Expecting people that come for less than a week to buy things that can be only bought in bulk is quite strange and that was the first guest house I stayed at that had such rules for such a short stay..
