😊: Place was clean, newly refurbished, and had most of the essentials. The bathroom was spacious and very clean, including a very nice shower.. 😢: The place is ok. As most comments have said, the stairs to the upper room are quite steep and narrow. What wasn't clear is that the stairs to the main bedroom and bathroom are also relatively steep and narrow. This can be slightly tricky with a baby or the elderly. The dinning table has a clear plastic cover which screams cheap. The provided address doesn't have a house number (even though the property actually has a house number), so it was actually difficult to locate. We even asked a local and they didn't exactly know the location. The house is in the main road with a narrow sidewalk so it's not easy to load/unload the car. This is again a problem when you have children to put into the car and the road is slightly bend so cars are travelling relatively fast and your trying to ingress/egress from the car into literally the middle of the road. While the house was clean, newly refurbished, and provided all the essentials (no soap or shampoo if I recall!), everything felt cheap. It's ok to an overnight stay in route to another destination..

😊: Location and a large comfortable spaces.
😊: A lovely old property full of character. We only stayed two nights so didn't spend too much time in the property. Lovely powerful shower and everyone slept well. Kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfasts in the mornings. Got fresh bread/pastries from the two bakeries about 5-10 minutes walk away. Blackout blinds on the windows in the loft bedroom and outside shutters on the main bedroom windows. The children liked having the top floor to themselves and a nice touch to have a basket of toys up in that room as well.. 😢: Although we all slept well, I personally wasn't too keen on the mattress in the main bedroom and felt it dipped too much. The children aged 6-14 loved the stairs and the pretty much ladder up to the loft bedroom. However, they are very narrow and steep with limited headroom. The stairs/ladder from the top to middle floor we climbed down backwards. We left the suitcases downstairs and carried up our clothes ect separately to be on the safe side. The hallway floor on the middle floor also slopes. For us it all added to the fun and character of the property but you really need to be aware of it when booking this property. The other consideration is parking is in public car parks nearby. You can stop for 15 minutes outside the property to load/unload your car. The car park we used was less than a 5 minute walk away up some stairs..
😊: Located near the town centre, with restaurants, cafes and bakeries without walking distance. The weekly market is cute, with just 4-5 stalls selling meat, fish, cheeses and various fruits and vegetables. A large free parking area is about 100m away. Great friendly host.
😊: It was such good value for money as there was lots of space, and even though it was central to the town, there was a small outdoor garden space for our dogs and for us to sit out in the evenings too. The kitchen facilities were excellent andwe found it a great place to relax as we prepared for our journey home. Samuel was so lovely when we met him and both our hosts were really helpful with recommendations and checking in to make sure everything was okay.. 😢: Nothing, but the only thing that people visiting Cassel might want to be aware of, is that you can’t get anything to eat in the town on a Monday or Tuesday night, though there are nice places out of town if prepared to drive..
