Gîte \"Le Clos du Mapré\" with Pool- Spa-Hammam, 3 bedrooms

Great pool shared with another large gite but this was not a problem as pool open 9am-7.30pm and our different holiday rhythms meant usually had the pool to ourselves. Large garden with table tennis and badminton. Everything you need inside: we liked to carry our meals to outside eating area. Blackout shutters to keep everything cool/dark. Local days out to copper mine in Le Thillot and La Schlucht Chair lift up to tops for walks/views of Vosges and Luge back down. Château du haut-kœnigsbourg and Colmar an hour away. Francoise and Denis great hosts and their daughter's crepes delicious!!

We had a lovely week. The property is pretty much without fault. Its very well equipped and everything is of a high standard and very clean. Very comfortable accommodation with lots of space and a fantastic swimming pool in a stunning location. We were very well looked after by Francoise and Denis. They didn't speak English but we knew that anyway but between us we got by ! Our boys had a great time and we will certainly consider returning.

Le logement est très fonctionnel, la piscine et le jardin sont top. Les propriétaires nous ont très bien accueillis et nous ont guidé sur des sites et auberge très sympas à visiter. Nous serions ravi de refaire un séjour là-bas.

Propriétaires accueillants et désireux que nous passions un très bon séjour. Très bel endroit pour y passer des vacances en famille ou en amoureux, au calme, près de la nature verdoyante. Je recommande fortement, nous avons été plus que ravis.

"Hörst Du das?" - "Nein, was?" - "Na, eben... es ist so still"... Der Urlaub bei den Pernots war einfach herrlich. Angekommen in einer perfekt sauberen und gut ausgestatteten Ferienwohnung geniesst man vom ersten Augenblick die Ruhe und die Natur in dieser tollen Gegend. Der riesige Garten mit dem angrenzenden Bach bietet den Kindern tolle Möglichkeiten zum Spielen und Entdecken, Autos fahren hier praktisch keine, von Zeit zu Zeit hört man aus der Ferne mal eine Kuh oder einen Esel rufen. Dennoch sind alle Einkaufmöglichkeiten in 7 min (Auto) vorhanden. Bei bestem Wetter konnten wir den tollen Pool genießen, der Dank der Überdachung auch bei mäßigem Wetter genutzt werden kann. Die Vogesen bieten für alle Naturinteressierten tolle Möglichkeiten für alle Ansprüche. Wandern, Klettern, Radfahren (auch für Familien auf der alten Bahnlinie ohne Steigung)... Auch in Corona-Zeiten kann man hier beruhigt Urlaub machen, die Familie Pernot legt grössten Wert auf Hygiene und Desinfektion im Sinne der Gäste. Pool und alle Kontaktflächen wurden regelmäßig gereinigt und desinfiziert, man fühlte sich absolut gut aufgehoben. Die liebenswerte Gastfamilie gibt einem ab dem ersten Moment das Gefühl, "Willkommen" zu sein, immer diskret im Hintergrund, aber bei Bedarf steht die ganze Familie für Spiel, Spaß, Hilfe und Tipps zur Verfügung. Einfach Klasse. Auch für deutsche Gäste mit wenig Französischkenntnissen ist der Aufenthalt hier empfehlenswert, da Frau Pernot fließend Deutsch spricht und jederzeit gerne zur Verfügung steht. Wir bedanken uns herzlichst für den schönen Urlaub und werden gerne wiederkommen...

This is a super place to go for a relaxing holiday, in a beautiful mountain setting with plenty of activities for families and/or outdoor types! The gite is an apartment in the attic of the family's home. It's not brilliantly designed (one bedroom leads off another, for example) but it is spacious, modern, well-equipped and very well maintained. The outdoor area and grounds are immaculate and the swimming pool - open air or covered! - is wonderful! We'd thoroughly recommend this lovely place for anyone looking for an active holiday or simply to relax in an attractive setting and enjoy the facilities on offer here. Nous avons passe des tres belles vacances ici, dans un gite avec tous les conforts imaginables et tres bien entretenu. La piscine est magnifique! Il y a beaucoup d'activites possibles dans la region - des balades, VTT, promenade a velo sur "la voie verte", lacs, "accro-branche", luge d'ete... et tout le paysage est tres beau.

We were a party of 7; grandparents, parents, two boys (4 & 2), and a dog. The accommodation was right for us, with all rooms being plenty large enough. A slight drawback was the shortage of enough sofas/armchairs in the lounge, on the odd occasions we were all there. The kitchen was very well equipped and we could prepare any sort of meal. Another slight drawback was the need to negotiate the stairs to get outside with the food, should you want to eat there - all the accommodation is on the first floor, accessed via private stairs. On arrival the place was in excellent condition and perfectly clean. Denis and Francoise were very welcoming, but perhaps could have left the (quite lengthy) tour and explanations of the property until we had got over the journey. Contrary to the property description, English is not spoken by either of them . However, they are most charming and proved more like friends than landlords as hosts. I misunderstood the description in relation to the use of the pool (a very good facility it was too); it is shared with the occupants of another, larger, property. This proved to be no great problem to us as most of the time we wanted to use it we had it all to ourselves, but I could see that it would be too small if everyone wanted to be there at the same time. Nevertheless, we found it excellent. Shopping is convenient, with a baker, butcher and "corner" shop in the village, and an Intermarche and Lidl a few minutes away towards Le Thillot (where there are many, many shops). The Intermarche is open on Sunday mornings, which is great for Saturday travellers. There are good places to eat at every turn; one recommended by Denis and Francoise for a special dinner (a wedding anniversary) was Auberge des Fontaine in nearby St. Maurice sur Moselle.. It proved an excellent recommendation. Being a mountain area, the main attraction is the scenery so you need good weather. We had a few rainy days but could still use the pool. When it was nice and sunny it was beautiful. There are many walks, and short and longer drives on roads so quiet as to be a pleasure to drive them. The Alsace wine towns are within easy reach and the Route des Cretes is great. There is a pleasant short walk around The Ballon D'Alsace, as well as The Grand Ballon. This was a lovely holiday in a beautiful place, enhanced by the hospitality of the owners. I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

We spent two fantastic weeks at the house. The apartment looks great, is very spacious, very clean and very well equipped. The pool is brilliant - with the roof it can be used in cooler weather or opened up electronically in the sun. The gardens are great for kids with badminton, table tennis, swings and enough room for a game of football. The location is superb. Easy to find - removing the stress of arrival and ideally situated for walks in the hills and forests. The walks are steep in places but the views from the tops of the hills are spectacular and well worth the effort. There's a supermarket a few minutes down the road at Le Thillot and a bakers, butchers and newsagents within walking distance in Le Menil village. Denis and Francoise gave us plenty of ideas for days out and we visited the market at La Bresse, the lake at Gerardmer and the beautiful town of Colmar. Besides all that Denis and Francoise are great hosts and always on hand if needed. We holiday in France most years and the house, the location and the hosts are just about as good as it gets. We had a truly excellent holiday and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing break in a beautiful place.
