Grange en pierre magnifiquement aménagée près de Daglan, Périgord Noir

We had a wonderful stay at the Stone Barn, part of a beautiful estate, just outside of the totally charming village of Daglan. The property is just gorgeous (we had the good fortune to be there when the gardens were at their peak), and perfectly set up for our two-week stay, with good beds and lovely linens, modern bathrooms, nicely equipped open kitchen — everything we needed.Special kudos to our host, Steve, who could not have been more friendly and really knowledgeable about the local and extended Dordogne area. He had great tips about day-touring to the fabulous caves, small villages, local restaurants, etc., so we were always well informed about the possibilities. There were even a few lovely walks from the property. We felt really well taken care of.The village in Daglan has a bakery, small grocery store, and other services and amenities and a cute Sunday market to boot. It's worth a stroll around town.We shared a large 4 BR building on the property but there are also several lovely smaller units, and a pool. We totally recommend the accommodations, service and locale. The Dordogne region is spectacular with plenty to see and do. Seeing this stunning property in person is even more breathtaking than the photos suggest. What was once a cluster of crumbling buildings has been transformed into a high-end retreat, beautifully restored inside and out.We stayed in a chic, modernized barn with cozy beds, comfortable seating, two outdoor patios, a wooded walking path, and sweeping views.Hosts Elizabeth and Steve go above and beyond—greeting us on arrival, checking in the next day, giving us an hours-long tour filled with stories of the property’s transformation, and sharing best wishes twice as our two groups departed. This is clearly a labor of love, and they delight in sharing the living spaces and restoration history.

We have had a wonderfully relaxing holiday. Steve and Elizabeth are very welcoming and friendly and the Barn is a stunning place to stay.

Nous avons passé 4 jours dans cette superbe maison, en tous points conforme aux photos et au descriptif du site. Le logement et ses extérieurs sont parfaitement entretenus. La maison est meublée avec goût, au calme, avec un équipement de qualité. Elle est suffisamment grande pour 8 personnes car les pièces sont spacieuses. Steeve et Elisabeth sont des personnes charmantes et accueillantes: Steeve nous a raconté l'histoire et la rénovation de leur propriété. Une adresse à garder, à conseiller sans hésiter.

Très belle propriété, très propre, et au calme. Beaucoup de fleurs pour notre plus grand plaisir. Équipement de la maison parfait. Région très riche, nous sommes ravis.

Elizabeth et Steve sont des personnes charmantes, très attentionnés pour leurs hôtes. Le domaine est vaste et superbe. Le logement est aménagé avec énormément de goût et il est d'une propreté irréprochable. Plusieurs randonnées sont possibles au départ de la propriété : La boucle de Maine et La boucle de Nodonie notamment. Si l'on est curieux et si l'on ose s'aventurer sur les sentiers des bois alentours, on découvre de magnifiques bories restaurées. Mais il faut avoir l’œil ! Les principaux sites touristiques de la vallée de la Dordogne nécessitent quant à eux de prendre la voiture pour des trajets ne dépassant pas la demi-heure. Une belle adresse donc !

La propriété est exactement comme dans le descriptif c'est-à-dire superbe. La maison et ses extérieurs sont parfaitement entretenus. Nous avons eu la chance de pouvoir discuter avec steve qui nous a raconté l'histoire de la propriété.Il est également de très bon conseil pour les visites à effectuer dans la région.Nous y retournerons c'est sur !

Elizabeth and Steve have worked hard to create an attractive, comfortable and spacious holiday rental accommodation. We were a large group of guests, with comings and goings over a 10 day period, and Elizabeth and Steve’s accommodating approach really helped us have a successful celebration. There are so many attractions in the vicinity, and after a hard day as a tourist everyone looked forward to their afternoon swim in the inviting and well-maintained pool, followed by a meal on one of several terraces. The bedroom and bathroom facilities were really good, and the kitchen was well equipped to produce gourmet meals. As is fairly usual in self-catering accommodation, it was necessary to buy some bathroom and kitchen sanitary supplies, and to bring our own poolside towels. The accommodation was well-furnished, comfortable, and easy to clean at the end of our stay. If there were any problems or issues that arose during our stay, they were addressed immediately by either Elizabeth or Steve. All our own guests were impressed by what they experienced during their stay. Not surprisingly, we have really good memories of our stay in Daglan, and of our interactions with our hosts, and we wish them all the best for the future.
