Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans la région du Niolo. Claude est un hôte chaleureux et généreux. Nous avons apprécié ses conseils et ses idées de balade pour que nous puissions découvrir la région avec notre petite fille de 1 an.

Nach den vielen positiven Bewertungen, die wir vorher gelesen haben, wurden unsere Erwartungen bei weitem übertroffen. Claude hat uns recht herzlich empfangen und gab sich allergrößte Mühe um unseren Aufenthalt schön zu gestalten. Die Dorfgemeinschaft war wie eine große Familie. Wir wurden immer wieder mit Ernten aus dem Garten beschenkt und Claude kam auf die Idee uns mit seinem Auto zur Bahnstation für die Erlebnisbahn zu fahren, da wir mit unserem Motorrad angereist waren. Claude gab uns viele Tipps, damit wir die fantastische Landschaft von Korsika kennenzulernen. Wir können nur eins sagen: Danke Claude

We've had a wonderful stay in Claude's house! The view from the house and the garden was majestic. The house was proper and had everything we could need. Claude is a very kind, concerned and sincere host who is always willing to help. He told us a lot about hiking trails in the area and even brought us to the start of one of them. We couldn't think of a better place to spend our holiday in Corsica. I would recommend a stay at Claude's house to anyone! We hope te come back some time!

Having read Nathan's and Jonathan's reviews before our trip we can confirm that they are both spot on. Claude is a star host; generous, helpful and very knowledgeable of the area. We really liked the rustic beauty of the area. The garden and sheltered 'outdoor room' have great views. The 'outdoor room' includes cooking facilities and is a perfect place to relax at the end of the day.

Rather than duplicate, let me say that I emphatically second every point in Jonathan E.'s review -- I'll focus on rounding out the picture. First (and this does bear repetition), Claude Bernard really made the stay for me -- in too many ways to recount (bowls of cherries right off the tree, helping to wash my car, the inside scoop on hiking trails, ...) his hospitality went far beyond the norm. It helped me feel less like a tourist and more like a (short term, French-impaired) member of the community. For hikers, the location is perfect -- you're closer to the GR20 and the more exciting, higher altitude trails than you would be in Corte, for example. Day trips to the beach are perfectly feasible. While you'll probably have a car, the local grocery store (a five minute drive) also sends a food truck around the neighborhood mid-morning. It stops right on your doorstep and stocks a rather impressive fraction of the full store's inventory, if you're feeling lazy. Allow 1.5-2 hours to drive from Ajaccio -- google maps is occasionally over-optimistic about speeds on small mountain roads, and you won't want to rush the views!

Is Claude Bernard the best host in Corsica or indeed France? If you are lucky enough to find yourself his guest, maybe you can judge for yourself. The apartment is an excellent modernisation of the ground floor of a traditional Corsican house in a quiet village, south facing and with every convenience, two bathrooms and a top specification kitchen. Exclusive use of Claude's garden gives you panoramic views of the mountains and a wonderfully quiet place to relax. If you need a bit of life, its a short walk to the Bar Des Amis. This is a superb mountain retreat, with a charming and talented host who is generous to a fault - ideal for a one or two couples or a young family, with plenty of community spirit in the village too. We were sad to leave and are looking forward to our next visit to the house of the magnificent Msieur Bernard!
