Holiday Chateau for Families and Groups

We were a small group looking to tour around the Loire Valley and hired Chateau MontFelix for this reason. We were very happy about our decision! Close to the town, beautiful in its self with a market weekly and right in the middle of the famous Chateaux. Recommend Chenonceaux as a must do. Lovely chateau and great owners, they could not do enough for us.

My wife and 3 sons, ages 2, 4 and 8, stayed at Mont Felix for a week. The chateau is located in a wonderful area and very close to some great towns and historic sites. The property is good for exploring with young kids. The house itself is quite large, and furnished with period decor from the longtime family owners. We found the home relaxed and comfortable and convenient with plenty of room. A highlight was the modern pool area, which was delightful on warm summer days. The caretaker Annick was a great help, and did some shopping for us prior to our arrival and also serviced the property while we were there. The owners were responsive questions we had about the property and quick to address any particular requests.

We had 13 staying in this grand mansion. There is great separation in the 4 bedroom areas and plenty of space in the grand living areas for everyone to either mix or have your own space. All furnishings were new and everything well maintained. The house itself has tons of character and lots of levels and areas to explore. The grounds were equally grand and well maintained with your own forest to wander in. The area is central to many day visits to other towns and chateaus and elsewhere in the beautiful Loire Valley. There is close access to good food and supermarkets and the food markets in Loche are not to be missed. Annick looked after us well while there and is a great cook. We recommend having Annick's cooking at least once while you are there. We all had a fantastic time in the week that we were there and no-one had a bad word to say about our group home. We would highly recommend staying there.

Driving up the driveway to the chateau you see exactly what you see in the pictures. A group of ten stayed here for a week in May. We each had our own large and comfortable bedroom with separate bathrooms. Kitchen and dining facilities were more than adequate and we used them frequently. I would advise having a catered meal by Annick. It was delicious, abundant and reasonably priced. The weather was unseasonably unpleasant that week so we trekked around the area by car to see the numerous chateaux and wineries. There is a small town near the chateau that has several good restaurants and numerous places to obtain food. We were disappointed the weather did not allow us the pleasure of using the pool. The owner was inviting and most helpful in providing guidance about the area. Actually, I would have liked to have spent more time with her! I would recommend this place if you want to enjoy a rural French vacation.

Mont Felix is very special. Wonderfully grand but warm and welcoming, a rare combination. We have holidayed there three times with different combinations of friends/ family and all have been enchanted. we look forward to planning our next visit.
