Holiday cottage - Ponthoile

😊: A genuinely charming and authentic French property in an excellent location. The collection of gîtes has lots of character and the accommodation itself was generally fit for purpose.. 😢: The final cost was significantly higher than expected. An additional €100 was charged for cleaning, linen and towels, which was not sufficiently clear at the time of booking, bringing the total to over €200 per night. At this price, expectations are naturally higher. Unfortunately, there were not enough towels despite the additional charge, no Wi-Fi or basic bathroom amenities, and the small bathroom was poorly ventilated and somewhat musty. For guests travelling with dogs, there is no secure garden or fully enclosed outdoor area, so dogs cannot safely be off-lead. The check-in process was also unnecessarily complicated, with communication split between Booking.com, a third-party company and the owner. Despite replying several times about our arrival time, the owner did not receive my emails and was not expecting us when we arrived. Fortunately, we were travelling with a French speaker who could help arrange access..
