L'Atelier d'Azas - Tennis Piscine - 20mn. Toulouse & Albi - 5 chambres - 3 SdB

We are four adults and two teenagers and stayed from July 17-August 6, 2022. The house is large and open with big doors and windows for catching the breeze. The views all around the property are vast and beautiful. Our host, Jérôme, and his family live in the other wing of the house and are wonderful and unobtrusive. There are five bedrooms upstairs, 3 with en-suite bathrooms, and a WC downstairs. No a/c so if it’s hot, open everything up in the morning and close it back down before it gets too warm. The very thick walls and insulated doors and windows will maintain the temperature. The house is very old (1848) by US standards, so please be ready for some uneven flooring and no screens. Wifi can be spotty so if you need it, get a data plan. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare your own delicious meals which we did every day. The pool is very refreshing and you will have shady afternoons to sit out in the breeze. Next door is the church built in 1708, the wonderful morning bells begin at 0800. Azas is a short drive to businesses and restaurants in St Sulpice-La-Pointe, which has its open air market on Wednesday and a large Carrefour grocery, but everything is closed on Sunday so plan ahead. Azas has no restaurants or boulangeries. Everywhere you see rolling hills and vast green golden fields of sunflowers, corn, and millet while driving through Plein tree tunnels. There are many interesting sites and cute villages nearby. Toulouse is a 30 minute drive. The wine country of Guaillac is clise with many Chateau and vineyards to visit. Château d’en Ségur, Château Lastour. Local wine is delightful and very cheap. Albi is also about 30 minutes via highway but take the country roads, no need to rush or you might miss something really incredible. Like Giressens or Montricoux, hint hint. Make sure you have a good map or navigation system in the car and don’t even think about using a cell phone while driving. All village and country roads are narrow and deserve your full attention. Do not rent a large vehicle. Access in and out of TLS/Blagnac airport is fairly simple but there’s one critical roundabout exit you need to head in the right direction to Azas that isn’t obvious. When in doubt, keep going in the roundabout. Saturday market in Lavaur, bric-a-brac in Rabastens on Thursday; chocolate museum in Lisle-sur-Tarn, Carcassonne, Cahors, Cordes sur Ciel. It’s all a wonderland. Have fun!

The property suited our needs very well. Jerome welcomed us when we arrived, and was available anytime if we needed him - which it turned out we didn't. We are a family (all adults) who wanted to catch up - play some tennis, ping pong, swim, cards and relax. Which we did in abundance. Good weather as well. It would have benefited from a small folder listing and reviewing local amenities, markets, train timetables to Toulouse, maybe, and some local restaurants with reviews. Otherwise all good - our thanks to Jerome and his family.
