L Entre deux choses

😢: This accommodation charge €50 per night for bed linens and towels, and further €50 for cleaning. I was informed this by the owner after fully paid and one week before our stay. Just because I gave an honest and low review, the owner claimed we caused damage 13 days after our stay. He claims that we cause scratch on floor, stain on cooktop , and tear on ironing board etc. We arrived at after 9pm, only had one night sleep and left very early for Versailles Palace. We even did not touch the ironing board. The owner uploaded 12 photos on different items to Booking.com and claimed we caused many damages, request me to pay €150 to cover those damages..

😊: The house was extremely clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the village was pretty. The house was well-located for an overnight stay en route to South West France. It was a more convenient and cheaper option than staying in a hotel, particularly as we were three adults and two dogs. We appreciated the fully-enclosed garden for the latter.. 😢: The upstairs of the house is not practical for children or the elderly. There are three floors, with the bedrooms on the upoer two. We didn't need to use the top floor at all, thankfully, as access to that is via a staircase that is little more than a ladder; my mother is very fit, but even she found the staircase to the first floor difficult to negotiate because of the lack of anything to hold on to towards the top - a bannister would help. A coffee machine, together with its own pods, is a nice touch, but made it impossible for us to use our own, decaffeinated variety - a small filter jug or plunge cafetiere would be a good addition.Whilst the house accepts dogs, I would not describe it as particularly dog-friendly or welcoming, where dogs are concerned. We were provided with a very long list of (perfectly reasonable) don'ts, but I would have been happier and more relaxed, if we had been able to keep the dogs out of the sittingroom with its cream rug entirely - difficult as, for some reason, the door between it and the kitchen was off its hinges, propped up against the wall, with a message to leave it alone! Beware that, in common with many gîtes in France, the property only provides sheets, towels, shower mats, and teatowels at a supplement, but it does not make this at all clear in the details, which state that breakfast is not included, but make no mention of the absence of linen - you have to peer closely at the photos to notice. By the time we were told that it was too late to pay the supplement for these, it was also too late to bring them from home, as we were already on our way - slightly inconvenient, but not as inconvenient as the issues we had with communication with our host. Booking.com is explicit that all communication should be via the app, but the owner tried repeatedly to get us to communicate privately via email..
