La Belle Prise

😊: This was an absolute gem of a place. Ruth, the helpful English host met us at the property to hand over the keys and offered us use of their secure garage to store our bikes. She had left us bread, juice and milk, and the apartment included everything we needed during the stay, including a pod coffee machine. The apartment was beautiful, finished to a high standard, with a spacious lounge and each of the two bedrooms having a well appointed en-suite. There was a large courtyard in which we could leave our car, and the location was perfect for cycling into Châlons-en-Champagne for the obligatory bottle of bubbly. Would make an ideal base for a Champagne cycling tour, with Epernay and Reims also being within cycling range and a newly created cycling route nearby. The hosts also own the upstairs property, with a similar layout, so larger groups could rent both.. 😢: While there are plenty of larger towns nearby, Matougues itself is a tiny village with limited options, so be prepared to venture further out..

😊: Very clean property. Good beds, nice bathrooms. All we needed in the kitchen. Owner very helpful. Easy parking. Good WiFi. Perfect for four adults or a family.. 😢: Probably should have asked more about how to operate the A/C, but it wasn’t very hot when we were there..
