😊: Reasonable stay-over if you have to spend a night in Calais. Situated in a residential area with some free on-street parking. Relatively quiet during the night.. 😢: Stairwell to the apartment was so narrow, that one got stuckeasily, even with a small travel bag. Don't try to get a suitcase up those stairs! As outside temepratures were very high, the room was stuffy and the drains of the old building were a bit smelly. The bed is an IKEA-style day-bed with a saggy mattress. Not the most comfortable sleep. Before getting the door-code, I was unexpectedly required to either pay a chunky deposit in case I damage anything in the apartment, or pay for an insurance to cover the deposit. I never had this happen at any Booking.com stay before. The host also encouraged positive reviews by promising a 10% discount on future stays..

😊: Very small, basic studio apartment on the top floor in Calais. Street parking outside, supermarket close by, small kitchenette. Comms with host good. Just ok for a one night stay.. 😢: Bad drains smell in the studio, very steep & narrow staircase up to second floor. Toilet seat broken, small shower tiles missing, shower hand-held. A most unusual and time consuming security deposit of EUR 180 required after I had paid in full. I have never seen this in many years of staying at many Booking.com places around the world - especially when there was very little of value in the cluttered studio..

😊: This is a very small, basic apartment that is located in a quiet part of Calais. It is on the top floor with a very narrow steep staircase leading to the apartment. The bed was comfortable, bathroom functional but shower is a handheld nozzle. There are large windows which can be opened to allow fresh air to flow and shutters on the outside. Communication with the host was good but Checkin is at 5pm & a security bond of 180€ is required. Not sure why as there is nothing of value in the apartment. Overall this was just an average night stay.. 😢: The overall cleanliness of the apartment is very average, carpet needs vacuuming, shower screen filthy. No liquid hand soap in kitchen or bathroom sink. Cupboards are overflowing with stuff and too much clutter. It certainly doesn’t smell fresh on arrival. Finger prints and marks on all cupboards snd microwave..
