😊: A modern house in a great location. The forest with its extensive tarmac paths are right on the doorstep. The pool and jacuzzi are nice.. 😢: It is not unusual for temperatures to be into the mid to late 30's in the summer in this part of France. So you would think air con would be a pre-requisite for a purposely designed holiday home. Not only that but the house is designed to absorb and trap in heat. Most of the windows (all the big ones) are at the back of the house, which is west facing. The black shutters soak up the heat and get red hot, which radiates into the house. Heat does not leave the house, even when it gets cooler outside. So, it is difficult to sleep with that heat. In the day, with the shutters down, it is like a cave, but still very warm. At dusk, when you may want to open the shutters, the mosquitoes are waiting to go in! It is not a quiet development. It gets rowdy late into the night, with lots of shouting, kids screaming and playing till almost midnight. It definitely was not what we signed up for and expected. Good luck if you want a good night's sleep. The noise will keep you awake, even if the heat doesn't. When we first arrived, tired from the long journey, we were repeatedly harassed from the moment of arrival, to send over the deposit by bank transfer. From a UK bank to a French bank is not simple and requires some tedious admin. We offered cash, but that was declined. We were also harassed repeatedly from the moment of arrival to sign the inventory, which was in French, before we even had a chance to unload the car and unpack. The price you see is not the price you pay. The jacuzzi is extra. Towels and bed linen are extra. An extra change of bedding is extra. Putting them on the beds is extra. I'm surprised tables and chairs weren't extra. Of course, cleaning is extra too. And you don't find that out till after you've booked and paid..
