La Grange dans la Foret

This Gite simply wraps itself around you. So comfortable and clean. The outside courtyard is lovely for a morning coffee and evening wine. Chris and Keith have done a wonderful job of making it a home away from home. Especially useful is the map they send which really lays out the area for driving purposes. Would stay aging in a heartbeat and we were sad to leave.

We previously stayed at this property seven years ago when Keith and Christine had just started to let. Nothing much has changed - which is a good thing! It was very clean, well equipped and, on this occasion most importantly, cool during day and night.We visited during the 40C August heatwave of 2025 which was a bit of a shame for the first week, when any daytime activity outside was a bit of trial. Christine was full of suggestions to help us - and we did travel far and wide in our air-conditioned car. Otherwise we "chilled" in the accommodation, which despite not being air-conditioned was great. The second week was much better and we visited chateaus, art galleries, caves and markets etc. as normal.Keith and Christine are excellent hosts and recommended a visiting English band playing at the brewery in Monpazier, which made for a very entertaining evening.There is plenty to see in Monpazier, although a small town, and has a few decent restaurants, but quality varies. Like all rural France, be prepared to drive up to 90 mins to get to interesting places and larger towns (Cahors, Agen, Perigeux).Hopefully we won't leave it seven years before returning.

Really lovely, well equipped and comfortable accommodation in a beautiful area, surrounded by forest. The hosts Christine and Keith, were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. For us this was a perfect holiday stay and we would recommend it to anyone who loves country style living in comfort.

Tout est confortable et bien pensé dans le logement, qui a été construit et décoré avec goût, dans une ambiance hors du temps. La cuisine contient tous les ustensiles nécessaires pour se préparer de bons repas, et les hôtes ont même prévu un cadeau de bienvenue et laissé des épices, du lait, des pastilles pour le lave-vaisselle, de l'huile...afin que tout soit facile. Simply the best self catering...<br>#128578; When we arrived, Chris came out to meet us and show us round the property. Everything was explained to us clearly, and there was even a welcome pack of bread, cheese, milk, etc and even a complimentary bottle of wine. We loved the property straight away and we were both genuinely sad to leave. Outside the private courtyard is great for sunbathing or just chilling out under a lovely tiled roof seating area to escape the sun. Un lieu de rêve ......pour...<br>#128578; L'immersion dans le silence de la forêt ; le volume de l'hébergement et la qualité du couchage ; la déco<br>#128577; la difficulté à arriver sur place : aucune signalétique dans un dédale de routes, aucun réseau téléphonique. Problème linguistique (nos hôtes ne parlent quasiment pas le français) en conséquence accueil compliqué (une voisine venue en renfort) et pas de relationnel possible durant le séjour. Equipement à l'anglaise : eau chaude et eau froide séparées, pas de mitigeur. Absence de micro-ondes, batterie de cuisine non adaptée. et vaisselle insuffisante en quantité. Pas de ralenti/mijotage ...
