😊: Well equipped and light apartment on the ground floor, with small private terrace and convenient 🅿️ in the yard.. 😢: The property is managed by an outside ‘concierge’ company. When in hospitality, best show hospitality. Here there is room for improvement. The acces code for the gate, as communicated, was incomplete. Hence we got stuck with the car blocking the gate and had to phone in. The printed welcome message inside provides a QR code to access WiFi (photo). The code could be activated but the link didn’t work (photo). We didn’t bother to phone in again. In the neat bedroom the bed was made with a heavy duvet (photo), not a clever idea with an outside temperature of 34C. The bedroom is on the street side, not realistic to open the window there at night (traffic/security). It gets very warm inside, there is no airconditioning (and not even a fan). We were startled by the standard departure message, which included: “Please leave the shower gel which is provided during your stay in the flat”. Tourist low life apparently is the expectation. The explicit instruction: “collect the dirty linen in the main room” topped it. A job that would take no more than a minute or two, but that is precisely the point: no hospitality shown. Even more disappointing because there is a stiff €70,- cost for cleaning. Finally, the booking conditions are unfriendly: a 15 day free cancellation period; upfront payment (largely in advance) in instalments with several accompanying messages that leave the impression that the outfit is primarily money driven. Nevertheless: we liked La Rochelle very much!.
