La Salamandra au coeur de Sarlat

😊: Location was good.. 😢: No climatisation, no soap, requested 2 beds, only one prepared, hostess was rude and unhelpful. Parking was free but very far from apartment and this difficult to manage with luggage. Two flights of stairs and no notification of this in the booking. I asked for a refund but got no response..

😊: My partner and I stay in Sarlat 4-5 times a year. We booked this apartment for my elderly parents to stay in as we were staying just down the road. The location itself is very central with the access around the rear of the main road through the town. The apartment itself was very clean and modern with a well equipped kitchen. My parents said both the beds were comfy and they had no issues with road noise or noise from the surrounding bars and restaurants. You can park on the road outside the front of the property if there is space which you have to pay for. There is a free car park 5 minutes walk away (which we always use).. 😢: The check is process was frustrating. When we booked the apartment I asked if there was any chance if we could check in before the 5pm check time as we were due to arrive in Sarlat at 11.30am. I was told to text a contact number 30 minutes before we arrived in town so they could let us know if this was possible. We had no reply from this number 4 hours later so I sent another text, whatsapp and tried to call still no joy. I had to resort to contacting through booking.com and was sent a different name and number to contact. Eventually I had a response from the original number 5 hours after my original text to say she would meet us at the apartment at 5pm. We were sent no directions as to the location or access to the property it was just lucky we know the town so well that we managed to work it out for ourselves. A lady finally turned up at 5.15pm with no apology for being late or the lack of communication. She rushed us around the apartment took payment and left. The wifi password was hand written on a scrappy piece of paper and we could not make the letters out. I called the lady within 10 minutes of her leaving the apartment and she said to send a photo and she would tell us what it was on a text. I did this and had a reply to say yes that is the correct password! I replied to say we cannot read the writing and had no reply! I again had to resort to messaging on booking.com. We eventually got a reply the next day with a password which had 2 extra letters that were not even on the hand written scrappy piece of paper. Due to this frustrating check in process I would not book this apartment again which is a shame because the apartment itself is lovley..
