Laid Back Luxury in a Stunning Village, Walking Distance to Restaurants

I would recommend this property to everyone. Set in beautiful surroundings in a stunning wee village, it has everything you could want for a quiet and peaceful time away; whilst accommodating all of your needs. The cottage has all modern necessities, at the same time as being cosy and welcoming. The swimming pool is amazing and was very much needed during the heat dome we struck. The setting is amongst a much-loved cottage garden - you really could not ask for more. Susie and Roddy were the perfect hosts. They were very friendly and welcoming and assisted us with any queries we had - also providing extras we did not envisage - eg.bread and cheese, taking us to event venue. They also ensured we had privacy. Thanks you so much for a wonderful experience.

As described in listings . Beautiful garden with great swimming pool which was heated . Nice to sit out in the covered area in the late evening sunshine . Accommodation was perfect for us sitting room , kitchen, bedroom and bathroom all good ..village lovely with two great restaurants. And the bar down by the river was perfect for lazing around . Safe to swim in the river also .Everything you need in walking distance . Easy access to some nice places to visit including La Rochelle, Rochefort, Saintes . Also a lovely chateau in walking distance to amble around . Overall a perfect peaceful place to stay with owners Roddy and Suzy always on hand to have a chat . Will hopefully be back for more relaxation.

A fabulously tranquil setting with outdoor space under vines overlooking a beautiful garden and swimming pool. Everything you need is there. Comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen, great shower room, lounge, BBQ and fabulous hosts that really know how to make your stay truly enjoyable. Combined with the lovely village and sights of the area,what more could you need.

Loved staying at the vacation home. My favorite area of France. Enjoyed my time with Susan and family.

This was an amazing holiday in a very cozy and modern gitê. The hosting family is very kind and welcoming. The pool and garden are amazing. Everything was just perfect for our stay. Thank you very much!

Everything here is fabulous the whole house beautifully clean and superbly well equipped even a lovely welcome package. Roddy was super friendly and helpful when needed. Lovely helpful book about local restaurants shops places to go etc. There was fruit in the garden too. Lovely clean warm pool. Thanks and hope to be back again. 😁

Myself and my two daughters have just spent a wonderful 10 days in Port d'Envaux. The gite has been newly renovated and is beautifully appointed with rustic but luxurious charm. Lots of thoughtful details make la Cachette really special to include high quality beauty products, bathrobes, scented candles, record player and vinyl, a fantastic sized bathroom and a comfy mattress to name but a few. All of the above made our stay feel extra luxurious. Upon arrival we received a welcome pack to include, cheese, coffee, wine, milk etc meaning we could immediately relax rather than needing to rush out to the shops. The swimming pool is wonderful and always a beautiful temperature due to the 'abri' the owners installed. The terrace (perhaps my favourite part) was perfect to enjoy a coffee, glass of wine or share a meal. The shade was very welcome and you are surrounded by plants and a view of the beautiful garden which is lovingly cared for by the owners. The village is one if the nicest I have stayed in with restaurants, a bakery and so many activities to enjoy on the river. All in all a truly memorable holiday - the Charente is waiting to be explored! The hosts were very welcoming and helpful and their passion for the region and the interior design of the gite was evident the moment we arrived. We stayed for 10 days and it was wonderful! Even before we arrived Susan and Roddy provided excellent directions and very kindly provided bread, wine, cheese, etc so we had food for our first night. They were wonderful hosts, very friendly but not intrusive, and the property was beautiful - even more so than in the pictures. The gite itself is very comfortable with everything you need, including a proper kitchen with oven and hob and every utensil you could want, an excellent bathroom with walk in shower, a very comfortable bed, and a cosy living area equipped with all the books and games you’d need if the weather ever forced you to stay indoors. The gardens are beautiful, and the pool glorious! We hired a car so could enjoy the wonderful coast and countryside, but there are 2 restaurants, a pizzeria, and boulangerie within 5 minutes’ walk, not to mention the beautiful river with boats and canoes for hire, so no need to go beyond the village. It was bliss!
