Le Balcon du Parc, entre Lourdes et Gavarnie

😊: The location across the park from the thermal baths was outstanding. The large and comfortable covered balcony with a panoramic view of the mountains. Private parking. The apartment was beautifully decorated, furnished, and equipped. Marie, the proprietor, was charming, attentive, and very efficient. A place to return.. 😢: Nothing, really..

😊: This apartment is located on the 2nd floor of an apartment building overlooking a beautiful park. It is well decorated with modern furniture and appliances. It's a short walk to the village and to the walking/cycling path. Parking is easy in a large open air car park secured by a barrier. It was a great base to explore the local area. The balcony is large with plenty of room to have breakfast/drinks and we also stored a couple of bikes there. There is a small BBQ for cooking. It also gave us a perfect view of Fete Nationale fireworks and activities in the park. We did not meet the host, but instead met Fanny who turned up promptly to show us into the apartment and to collect the keys when we left. There was a portable air-con unit which we filled with ice water each night and this made the nights easier to sleep - it was very hot on several days of our stay. The apartment is on a busy street, but because it faces the park not the street it is very quiet and peaceful. Bonus for us - the Tour de France went right past the building so we joined the locals on the street and took part in the build up and festivities.. 😢: The property is advertised as having an oven. Unfortunately it doesn't, on the first day we went to the supermarket and bought ingredients to cook - then discovered there was only a microwave. I think the listing should be updated to remove the reference to an oven. There are about 10 external stairs to access the elevator. We had an e-bike which was heavy to get up the stairs. Once up the stairs we were able to use the elevator to get to the 2nd floor. So access is not by elevator from the ground floor, you need to first get to the elevator..
