We again enjoyed the local restaurants and boulangerie as well as a visit to the Le Marais aux Oiseaux near Dolus D’Oleron and the Sunday market in Chateau D’Oleron. And once again, we stocked up on the Sauvignon from Coulon et Fils.

The location is quiet yet very handy for local restaurants, shops, bakeries and bike hire – we spent an enjoyable day cycling around the north of the island and visiting the lighthouse at Chassiron. It is also handy for local beaches – the beach at Matha is only a 15 min walk away. And finally, it is worth following Nicolas’s recommendation and trying the local wines of Coulon et Fils in St Gilles.
