😊: A very well-equipped modern property with everything we needed for a 14-night predominately self-catering stay. The availability of a washing machine was particularly useful and saved us bringing two weeks' worth of clothes, as well as allowing us to wash the bedding during the stay (it was very hot - see below). All the equipment and facilities were excellent and the availability of two outdoor seating areas was particularly useful for providing contrasting environments at different times of the day. It was quiet, the neighbours were friendly and the general feel of the place was lovely. There was an excellent supermarket about five minutes drive away. We also loved the heritage railway - Le Train des Mouettes - that runs through the village and it was lovely to hear it in the distance. Royan is in easy driving distance, as are the excellent beaches to the south of Royan. We also visited the Zoo at La Palmyre, and took a day trip to La Rochelle. Arriving and leaving was very easy. There was on-drive parking and it was easy to load the luggage in and out. There was plenty of storage available, including cupboard space for our large suitcases. There was an excellent range of equipment in the kitchen and plenty of tools and cutlery. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and would certainly consider returning.. 😢: It was excessively hot during our stay with daytime temperatures of well over 30 degrees and over 40 degrees on a couple of occasions. Night time temperatures seldom fell below 20 degrees and one night the temperature was over 30 degrees for most of the night. In these exceptional circumstances, the property was extremely hot and sadly it was very challenging to ventilate it adequately. The windows could only be opened inwards - they did not have a tilt function - which meant we could only ventilate it fully when we were there (for security reasons) and this meant it stayed hotter than it would have otherwise done. It's a small complaint in the greater scheme of things, and only really an issue because of the heatwave, but some of the other properties in the development had tilting windows and it was a shame this one did not. My other grumble is that there was a list of instructions for cleaning at the end of the stay displayed prominently on the fridge. We had paid a (reasonable) 40 Euro cleaning charge, and it seemed a bit odd that the instructions did not make it clear that they were (presumably) only relevant where a cleaning charge had not been paid. We kept the place tidy and clean in general terms, but did not follow the instructions at the end at the end of our stay because we had paid the charge, and generally we would not expect to have to do a full clean at the end of a booking of this type..
