Le cottage du Marais. - Entire Place

😊: The little cottage is nicely set up to feel much bigger than its real size. The owner’s warm welcome and helpful advice made our mini vacation perfect.. 😢: It is quite far from anything but by car within easy reach to interesting places.

😊: It was an absolute privilege to stay in such a beautiful property, obviously very recently refurbished throughout to a very high standard. So many lovely touches to make it really homely. The site was previously a country retreat holiday park and many of the units now seem to be weekend retreats for the owners. The ones we spoke to were very friendly. The situation was very quiet and partly overlooked the lake. The grounds are very well kept with beautiful, mature trees. Marie is a delight, even setting the bookshelf calendar correctly! It was a short hop to St Omer and 30-40 minutes to Calais / Dunkirk. Located in the Audomarois Marsh region, a Unesco designated biosphere, with oodles of lovely walks and staggering numbers of flora and fauna species.. 😢: It's not a matter of not liking anything, but mindful of why people read reviews, it's worth mentioning a couple of things. We can't recommend the property to anyone with limited mobility. The car park is about 70-80m from the cottage and once past the site boundary, is on a slope. There are steps up at the front door. Not so at the back door, but that is straight onto grass, Also, none of the drives or paths are paved and are dressed with gravel. Not a problem to us as we nearly live in our walking shoes anyway and are outside people. But we recommend taking indoor footwear. And if stilettos and long dresses are your thing, you may want to dress down a bit before arrival!.
