LE PETIT PARADIS DE LA DIGUE

😊: Modern but small apartment well equipped with numerous pieces of newish electrical equipment - however, much more suitable for the younger generation than retirees and not for anyone with a disability! Good knowledge of and ability to speak French would improve communication. Excellent location, close to the sea, with good off-road parking behind the apartment block. Despite our problems and omission of information, overall this is a clean, modern and well equipped property which would benefit with just a little extra thought put in to its suitability for rental. The major problem is with the wall folding bed and its positioning - a free standing king sized bed would solve this!. 😢: It was quite difficult to locate the property as it is not numbered and there were no instructions sent and, when located, the key was eventually found under the doormat. Late advice was sent as a message on the Hotels.com site which we did not see until our arrival - an e-mail or text would have been much better. For some obscure reason, the main bed (which is very large and comfortable, apart from the straps fixing the mattress to the base!) was "fold up to the wall" which, when folded down was hard against one wall that made it virtually impossible for the person (disabled pensioner) sleeping on the inside to get in and out and necessitated making up the high quality sofa bed and sleeping apart. The main bed when folded down has several very sharp protruding edges on which it is very easy to cut your leg and the sofa bed takes up 80% of the space in the kitchen diner. The door to the shower stall is very narrow unless you are very slim (which we are not!) and the seat of the toilet was not fixed at one side. Also the right hand site of the toilet is hard against a very large and modern looking washing machine (with no instructions). There are no towel rails and no hanging space - we had to adapt the folding drying rack to hand shirts, dresses and trousers! Whilst there is Wi-Fi it is very temperamental. There is only a scanning connection and no password, so it can only be used to connect to a smart 'phone and cannot be used with a laptop or pad. It would be very useful to have an instruction/guide book describing how to operate all of the appliances, giving contact details and information on rubbish and glass removal and exact detail of parking space. The young host is quite difficult to contact and has only limited understanding of English!.

😊: location was lovely, right on the beach. Small but well appointed apartment.. 😢: extra charges for sheets and linens and clean up (it is in the fine print). bedroom was particularly cold overnight. Could use a space heater in there. I found the host got a bit short with me by text when I couldn't figure out the wifi... she was otherwise very responsive..
