Les Douves - Cité Médiévale de Fougères

😊: The location of Les Douves is excellent; it is an easy (uphill) walk to get into the town itself and the castle is about 5 minutes' walk. The (relatively) private terrace had very pretty views of parts of the old town and one of the churches, and was next to a beautiful stream so very pleasant to sit out over dinner and watch the birds and the world go by (plenty of restaurants within walking distance if you want to eat out). The area in which Les Douves is situated had character - interesting and well-renovated Medieval houses. There was free parking a few yards up the road. The property seemed to have most things that you might need for a short stay. It was peaceful and clean. A fan had been provided (we arrived when the weather was exceptionally hot) which we really appreciated and there were ice cubes ready in the freezer!. 😢: The bed is on the small side and the pillows were grim - more like cushions. Bedding looked a bit rumpled/un-ironed and could do with a refresh. More than one tea towel would be handy..

😊: Location beautiful, lovely patio. Everything you needed for a short stay.. 😢: Considering the quality of the rest of the facilities the bed was very uncomfortable, thin mattress we both woke with stiff necks and shoulders. Only stayed one night..

😊: A perfect place to stay for the night on our tour through France. Clean, simple and comfortable. Nice patio to sit out by the river.. 😢: Nothing..
