Wonderful location and property- hosts attentive when needed - exterior lovely, but could have a bit more polish ( missing flowers in pots around pool, missing lounge cushions and poor looking pergola) - overall a charming well equipped spacious and comfortable property in a fantastic location

A beautiful ,comfortable, tastefully renovated property, in a quiet location but with easy access to Loire and Vienne villages and chateaux. The kitchen equipment and appliances were just about complete. The pool and outside space was lovely- sunny areas and shade, with nice planting. The owners are so pleasant and helpful.We loved it, no complaints at all!

We had a very comfortable and enjoyable 2-week holiday staying in this charming and very well-equipped property. The property is light, airy, spacious and effectively can be used as a holiday for two families or groups should they want or need their own space. Laurence lives very close by and was very easy to contact. She was friendly, pleasant, attentive, and helpful and not in any way intrusive. The online pictures are a very accurate representation of the house and gardens. The property has easy access to several chateaux and interesting local towns (Chinon, Bourgeuil, Saumur, Langeais) and is a 5-minute drive from Azay-le-Rideau. The downstairs bedroom is wonderfully cool in hot weather and quiet. The owner supplied plenty of good fans to use in the hot weather in other parts of the house. The surroundings and gardens were extensive, very attractive and quiet affording lots of privacy and different areas for our family to enjoy relaxing and playing and ready access to local and immediate walks in adjacent forests. A delightful spot. This is a very good area for cycling providing varied and interesting routes either near to the Loire river or through pretty villages. The swimming pool is heated and secured and is in the garden which makes it very convenient and a great asset to your holiday.

Beautiful property with super facilities including parking, small pool, large outside terrace and a very large kitchen and dining area - perfect for large groups but with well designed areas for more privacy (with bedrooms on either side of the property). Laurence and Yannick are delightful hosts and live close by, and sorted out a very minor problem within minutes. The kitchen is well designed and easy to cook meals for a large group. With two bedrooms on either side of the property it is great for two families but the shared bathroom on one side of the upper house means it is better for parents and children to share (no real privacy for two sets of adults to use). The outside space is lovely, and we sat around the pool most afternoons (pool is small but perfect for cooling off). There is a cycle path just up from the house which takes you into nearby Azay which is stunning (around 10-15 minutes on a bike). Would highly recommend the house and would love to return to this beautiful area.

Parfait séjour pour des vacances entre amis avec enfants. Nous n'avons pas pu bénéficier de la piscine (avril) mais nous avons profité du jardin, très beau et bien équipé (bains de soleil, terrasse parasol) La maison est très lumineuse et la partie cuisine séjour très agréable. 2 zones de nuit très distinctes, agréable pour 2 familles comme nous, chacun a eu son espace. À noter que 2 chambres sont accolées à une salle de bain commune, promiscuité adaptée pour une famille, moins pour 2 couples. Emplacement géographique très appréciable et accueil et disponibilité des hôtes au top. Bref, une super location !

This is a wonderful property. Very clean, exceptionally well equipped and a perfect location tucked away in a quiet hamlet near Azay. We kept in touch with Laurence on our arrival day, and she came to the property as she lives a few doors away. Having the hosts close by gave us re-assurance in case we had any problems, but we didn’t. There is a large ground floor bedroom with a big en-suite. Above that room there is a huge bedroom with a cot, and two singles and a double. Plenty of room in that upstairs bedroom for a family to share. This upstairs bedroom has the use of a shower room and separate wc downstairs on the hallway. Across the other side of the house on the mezzanine floor there are two bedrooms that share a shower room with wc. These two rooms both had double beds in them. I think we had the option to have one of these rooms set up as a twin, but check that with the owner beforehand in case I’ve got it wrong. The swimming pool is lovely. Nice and warm, and a welcome relief on the hot days. Plenty of sun-loungers. A huge outdoor table and many chairs to seat a large group. The only VERY SMALL issue we had was in relation to the security deposit. We assumed from the wording on the website that it would be by way of a credit card scan, as it spoke about “not levied” and “returned within a week of your departure” but Laurence explained that she couldn’t process a credit card. We therefore had to use cash. Apparently in France cheques are still used a lot, and therefore many of their French guests hand over a cheque (which is not banked) and it is posted back after the property has been checked. As I said, not a major issue, but just to be aware to avoid confusion. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this property- Yannick and Laurence are superb hosts and they have made Squirrels a wonderful retreat in which to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside in a cosy little corner of France. If we return to the area in the future this will be top of our list as a place to stay.

This is a really lovely house, set in a hamlet in beautiful grounds, that are not overlooked, with woodland beyond the boundaries. We were 4 retired adults and there was plenty of space with a large kitchen/family room, plus a double en-suite bedroom, bathroom and toilet downstairs, plus the upstairs bedrooms. The pool is great, and maintained at a really comfortable 28 degrees. The owner is on hand to sort out any minor issues that might occur (none during our stay) and ready with helpful advice on the local area.

The property is quite wonderful. In one of the hottest weeks of the year, we kept cool by dipping in and out of the pool. The garden and patio area are so lovely that we hardly spent any time inside the house, apart from sleeping. We would recommend it for two or three families, rather than four couples because the smallest bedroom and the larger one next to it share a "intimate" access to the bathroom.
