😊: I booked what was described as a 64 m² private holiday home for €84 per night. The listing seemed perfect, but in my experience, it did not reflect reality. I arrived at the rental at 4:00 PM after confirming my arrival time with the host by text just an hour earlier. Upon arrival, I was informed—only then—that the previous guest had been authorized to stay an additional night and that the house was no longer available for me. My booking was already paid and non-refundable.. 😢: The host drove me to an alternative accommodation she manages, a hostel approximately 7 km away in a small village. Unfortunately, this completely disrupted my plans, including meeting up with my walking group the next morning in Livinhac and using the kitchen where I’d planned to prepare dinner with groceries I had already purchased. The hostel I was taken to had a communal setup I hadn’t agreed to—no luggage permitted in the rooms, just laundry baskets to unpack into, and a no-shoes policy inside. I felt very uncomfortable with the tone and treatment I received upon arrival. One of the hosts, Frank, raised his voice and made comments about me in the third person as if I wasn’t present. I found this unsettling and intimidating. As a solo woman traveler, I did not feel safe in this environment and chose to stay locked in my room until I could leave at first light. Additionally, the hostel was loud, which made it impossible for me to telework as planned. The village lacked basic services and public transportation. I was asked if I wanted to purchase dinner being prepared on-site, which I declined. I will file a formal complaint with both the regional Office of Tourism and Booking.com to share my experience and ensure other travelers—especially solo women—are informed. While I eventually secured a refund, this was by far the most stressful and disappointing rental experience I’ve had during my time teleworking across France. I do not recommend this rental..
