Lovely Large Charentaise House Near Shops For Families Or Couple

We had a lovely time staying at Karl and Imtaz gite in Burie, Charente-Maritime. The gite was well furnished, and the bed was super comfy. There was everything you needed at the gite for a comfortable stay. The gite had a garden to relax in, and plenty of garden furniture. The gite was 10/15 minutes walk into the village where there was a Carrfour Contact and petrol station. The bonus was the gite was next to a Vineyard and you can buy pineau and wine from the owners. There are some lovely walks down the country lanes from the gite. Lots of places to visit in the area including Cognac, Saintes and Jonzac. Royan, which is on the coast, is about one hours drive away, and well worth a visit. Thank you Carl and Imtaz for an enjoyable week at your gite.

The garden is lovely and the housing is acceptable, particularly for a family. Very unique farm house type setting.

Location spacieuse et agréable pour 6 personnes dans un lieu calme. Nous sommes venus avec un bébé et les propriétaires ont mis à notre disposition un lit parapluie et une chaise haute. La commune de Burie est intéressante à visiter avec ses 13 fontaines. Nous la recommandons à toute personne souhaitant passer un agréable séjour charentais

My wife and I are old hands at vacation rentals in France (over 30 some years)--and this spacious village house is a favorite. It's well located --adjacent to vast vineyards, a short walk to the new Carrefour suermarket (which has a excellent butcher and good bread), and in proximity to the beautiful towns of Saintes and Cognac. The owners are most genial and helpful.

Excellent stay in Burie, Fantastic location. Very convenient for everything. We were with Our Grand Daughter and went to the beach 3 times in a week. Burie is Capital of The Bordeliers Cognac Grand Cru, we bought some prize winning Pineau from Neighbour. Karl was very good and easy to deal with, everything very well organized, and he always respond in minutes through contact. Highly recommend staying at The Old Bakery.--Nigel

Karl was excellent to deal with and super helpful with directions and ideas. Be sure to visit nearby Cognac distilleries and the Abbaye at Fontdouce, and I recommend the vineyard walks around Burie - including one that starts/ ends near the house - but its a little tricky to find the unmarked track. Both the house and the area have a lovely feel – highly recommended :)
