Maison à saint-Laurent-sur-mer

😊: Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer is of course already a special place in itself, but this house really completed our stay there. It is a beautiful detached house in a wonderfully quiet location, with a lovely garden and an orchard next to it that is still being developed. You are tucked away in a small enclosed area, away from the access road, and therefore away from traffic, noise, and bustle. That creates an immediate sense of calm. No background noise, no rush, just space. What I appreciated most is that the house does exactly what a good holiday home should do: it never gets in your way. It is clean, simply and neatly furnished, without an overload of knick-knacks or fragile decoration. Inside, everything is simply well taken care of. The kitchen is very neat and fully equipped, although to be honest, thanks to the weather, we spent most of our time outside. It is the end of April, so yes, it is still a little chilly, but with sunshine it is surprisingly pleasant here. You quickly find yourself sitting in the garden thinking: yes, this is exactly why you want to stay here. And when you are inside, the large west-facing sliding doors really do something special. At the end of the day, you can sit there in an armchair with a book while the setting sun pours in. It is one of those moments when you feel your mind finally switch off. And then the bath. That really deserves a paragraph of its own. If, like us, you spend your days walking many miles along the beach, through the dunes, along paths and memorial sites, then it is genuinely wonderful to come back here afterwards. To lie down for a while, warm up, and unwind. The bath does not make the house feel luxurious in a flashy way, but in exactly the right way: comfortable, restorative, and welcoming. For us, this house was a fantastic base for Omaha Beach, the American Cemetery, and everything else in the area. But even more importantly, it was also a place where you can truly relax afterwards..
