Maison au bord du Tarn à Ste-Enimie dans les Gorges du Tarn

Ce gite agréable, soigné et très bien équipé, est situé au coeur d'une fort belle région ; les propriétaires sont accueillants, disponibles et discrets. Bref, une adresse a retenir !

Location idéalement située à 2 pas du centre avec un accès privatif à la rivière. Le logement était parfaitement propre et suffisamment spacieux pour 4. Nous recommandons !!!

We stayed in Ste Enimie for a month, and used the apartment as a base of operation to explore Gorges du Tarn, Causses and Cevennes. We checked out caves, river rafting, cheese making, turn of the century farming, historical sites (wing mill and standing stones), etc. The apartment was clean and nice, with a deck having a stunning view of the Tarn river and cliffs opposite with Ste Enimie's hermitage. The kitchen is well equipped, though we tended only to eat breakfasts and a few dinners there. It was a very easy walk (1/4 mile) into town. M and Mme Gosse were very welcoming. They only speak French, but we did not let our poor French be a barrier.

The house is absolutely ideal, equipped with everything you need. It has great views over the river. The owners are charming, they even invited us into their own home for a soirée. The area is excellent for a great number of activities and the town is full of historic interest. We particularly recommend taking the boat trip from Malène with the Bateliers and a visit to Castelbouc. Before our holiday, there was a long period of anxious exchanges with the owners, who do not speak any English. We were surprised to find that we were required to sign a rental contract and return it by post, together with a certificate of compulsory insurance we had to take out for the gîte, covering our stay – all this in complex French legal language. No help was available from HomeAway. As we were leaving, there was an embarrassing discussion, with our limited French, about a sum of 90 euros, which we thought was a returnable deposit against breakages and the like. We left feeling confused and somewhat disappointed – an uncomfortable ending to what had been a great holiday.

The property was immaculately clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. A couple of days and evenings were cool but the electric heaters soon warmed the place up. The balcony overlooks the gorge and the river and gets the sun all afternoon until about 7.30. St. Enimie is only a few minutes walk down the hill and across the bridge and is the prettiest village along the Tarn with bars, restaurants and small shops along the bank. The little alleyways of the old town are worth exploring. Monsieur and Madame Gosse live near the property and are very friendly and helpful ( I forgot to take sheets but it was no problem). They don't speak much english so it's handy if you know a little french.

Everything was as expected in the Gite and the position was really nice and peaceful with great views of the gorge from the balcony, below which the garden gave direct access to the river Tarn along which it was possible to walk to the bridge into the town. The Gite was spacious and nicely furnished and the owner was very helpful when needed. St Enimie is a beautiful old town with plenty of parking, there are a choices of places to eat out, the Grocery shop is tiny but has all the basic items that you might need. Wifi available free at Tourist Office.
