Maison d'artiste à Bonnieux

😊: The house is beautiful and the village is stunning.. 😢: The owner ignored my website messages and my phone calls and my recorded messages for 5 days. I tried again 2h before check in but they never picked up nor answered my voice messages. On the website it gave me a window of 30 mins to check in. We had travelled from England so the window was tight. When we arrived the house was empty. Worse: the beds were not made. No sheets and no towels anywhere to do it ourselves. The wardrobes only had blankets and pillows. We had tensions among themselves between those who wanted to rummaged through cupboards and me who said it’s rude. So stress mounted. Anyway all were locked. We decided we had to book a hotel and left. I texted the owner again saying we were leaving. And only then the lady called me within 20 mins (no network in the street through my English O2 so she reached me when we’d left Bonnieux) to shout at me that I showed bad faith, that there was no way she’d compensate me or refund me “je m’en fous vous n’aurez rien”). That was the first time in 5 days that she had spoken to me. She then offered to send people to make the beds (apparently the sheets were easy to find in a cupboard on the 3rd and top floor near the outdoor jacuzzi). Since then she texted me accusing me of “bad faith” again and again..

😊: This is a lovely, if somewhat quirky, property in one of the most authentic hill towns in Provence. It has three double bedrooms, each with en suite facilities, a good sized lounge, a separate kitchen/diner and numerous outdoor terraces. Plenty of individual space for a small group. We would stay again in a heartbeat.. 😢: There was nothing that we didn't like about this property but I would advise renters that the property is on numerous levels, with steps everywhere. The nearest car parking is circa 100m away. It is free but dropping off and loading cases etc could be a challenge to some..

😊: Not much! The property is charming but very inconvenient. There was no breakfast, no reception, 3 sets of stairs required to access bedroom.. 😢: The property was very difficult to find. GPS and phone service was poor. There was no proximate parking and 2 sets of stairs were required to enter the property with NO assistance. The stairs were littered with mattresses and other junk. The phone contact was abrupt, rude and highly unhelpful. She offered no help at all. The air conditioning did not work, which required open doors for the night with flies buzzing around our heads..

😊: We loved Bonnieux and the house was a wonderful place to stay for a few days while we explored the Luberon. The beds were comfortable, the heating was excellent and having a washing machine was a bonus. The house has outdoor terraces across 3 levels so plenty of space to relax and enjoy our stay. Communication with the property manager was excellent during our stay and she was very helpful. The inclusion of a wine tasting at a highly regarded vineyard in the area was very enjoyable.. 😢: Some misunderstanding about an extra charge required for bed linen and towels- an extra cash payment was requested by the property manager the day before we were due to arrive. I had to follow up with booking.com several times to clarify that linen had already been included in our booking fee. Be sure to check what you have paid for in your booking and keep a copy of your pdf invoice which shows all charges paid for..

😊: Unique, fascinating, interesting, quirky. We were captivated by the uniqueness of this special space.. 😢: Bath plug didn’t hold water..
