Maison de campagne paisible

😊: Nothing except horses and foals in field nearby.. 😢: No welcome from hosts. No information in property about local facilities: doctors, pharmacy, food shops etc. Nor about what is of interest in the area, leaflets etc. Entering property we were greeted in kitchen with a fly paper covered in dead flies, a note to tell us to keep the windows closed to stop flies entering and two fly sprays. Also full fly paper in lounge. Keeping doors and windows closed didn’t stop number of flies increasing so they must be entering via attic? Fridge and freezer door handles on wrong side making access difficult and having to avoid fly paper. Sink plug and strainer faulty so not possible to fill basin to do washing up. Hot water from kitchen sink dangerously hot - risk of scalding. Foul odour in bathroom. Bathroom not cleaned thoroughly. Shower floor tile grout filthy. Wc and was basin separate - unhygienic. Electric socket not fixed to wall. Passive ventilation- needs mechanical ventilation as no natural ventilation possible. All glazing covered in fly excrement as well as all light bulbs. No lamp shades on any bulbs. Settee ripped and front valance collapsed. No Wi-Fi: a must nowadays. Hosts were picking cherries opposite but couldn’t be bothered to come and say hello to us whilst we were eating our breakfast outside. The property seems to have been refurbished on the cheap and has not been finished off properly. Notwithstanding that, there has been no thought to design: you have to walk across a large living space from the bedroom to the bathroom. The beds were only standard size: these days the norm is king size. I was glad to leave this property and frankly it should not be listed on booking .com. I would not recommend anyone to stay there. Even the guest comments book was just a notepad and you could see half a dozen pages removed presumably because other guests had similar views to us..

😊: Lovely 2 bedroom property needing TLC. Level with no stairs. Peaceful location, easy parking and about 10 min drive to town with large supermarket and petrol station on the way in.. 😢: No written info on the property on arrival, its facilities and surrounding district. No wifi and as flies were prevalent and would probably become more so as the weather gets hotter, no fly screens on any doors or windows, so could not leave these open. So much potential with a little more thought and effort considering the price in comparison to the many other places we have stayed at during this trip..

😊: The beds seamed recently refreshed.. 😢: The place smells of drainage and mold. No one to check us in or out. No sign to know where we should be. The whole interior is a scraped together collection of old linen old towels and bad style. On booking.com we have for 14 years been booking hotels and always we received some standard: like for instance soap and shampoo. Not this place: you need to bring your own. The worst of everything is the arrogant owner or manager. No wifi..
