Maison de caractère 'Le Mas de la Vanade'

We (a family of three) spent a wonderful week at Marie-Claire and Christian’s place in Barbentane. The house is charming, tastefully decorated with great attention to detail, and equipped with everything you might need. The peaceful location, the beautiful garden, and the lovely pool made our stay absolutely perfect – especially during the hot days. The beds are very comfortable, and we slept wonderfully, which made the whole experience even more relaxing.Marie-Claire and Christian are incredibly kind, warm, and helpful – you immediately feel welcome. We truly enjoyed our stay and can wholeheartedly recommend this house.

Stunning property. The pool was very welcome as it was very hot when we were there; the fans in the bedrooms were needed at night! Christian and Marie-Claire were wonderful hosts that kept everything running smoothly while giving us privacy. The fruit and vegetable stands close to the property were amazing and the butcher store in the village was great as well. The apartment itself was very beautiful, authentic and well-decorated! We would recommended it wholeheartedly - our 9 and 14 year old girls especially loved the pool!

We had a wonderful 9-day experience living in this charming renovated farmhouse. Our hosts, who live adjacent, were a delightful, and talented couple (he has a tribute band and she is an art restorer with her own art in a museum show!) who gave us privacy yet were available for whatever we needed.

Nicely decorated home. Well manicured grounds with a pool. Home has stone walls and floors with wood ceilings. Master bed is comfortable. Second bedroom and kitchen have noise from the street. Internet is spotty due to stone building.

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely house. It was very clean and looks JUST like the pictures: gorgeous! We like to cook and found the kitchen well appointed. The hosts were very friendly and made us feel so welcome. If you are looking to explore Provance with your own car, this is an excellent location. HIGHLY recommended!

The property is very nice with charm and a good size. Upstairs we was surprised bathroom is accessed from both bedrooms which at times was difficult to juggle. Fine if you have younger children but not ideal if you are all adults. The outside area, although nice, was not private and for us this was a problem. we felt that we were being watched a simple fence would have been good so at least we felt more private. so I would suggest anyone wanting privacy on their holiday, as we did, this is not the house for you. We had a two week stay at the house, we did not receive clean sheets or towels in that time, only upon arrival. I would suggest at the very least a weekly change would be acceptable. We had to wash the towels ourselves. The weather was extremely hot, I would suggest a fan to be provided or air conditioning be installed as heat inside the house was unbearable. We was told the BQQ was a part of their private area, so the BQQ that is included in the description is not provided. This was hard then to cook inside the house as it was simply too hot. Christian was a very friendly man and gave us lots of helpful recommendations for the local shops. In terms of value for money, having always hired private villa or house this was not value for money because of the lack of privacy.

We had a lovely stay with Marie Claire and Christian. From the moment we arrived, greeted with much appreciated refreshments, to our departure,we were treated with such kind hospitality. The property is exquisite, and Barbentane is so nice. Many detailed, beautiful decor, and nothing missing appt all. Very quaint and easy to navigate from throughout Provence. We hope to return!

The house, pool and entire grounds are very beautiful and I would say it is a great choice for couples or people with older children. We had our 18 month old with us and I would say if you have an active toddler (less than 2 years) I would not recommend. Our little boy threw small stones in the pool a few times (despite us trying to stop him in time), and the one time we didn't get to them before the owner saw, she was furious which left our whole party feeling very harassed and uncomfortable for the remainder of our stay. I want to add we retrieved all of them with the pool scoop, this was the one time we didn't get to them before the owner saw. So as I say, I cannot fault the property itself, the owners were very welcoming with drinks when we first arrived which was lovely, and I would definitely recommend to people without young children as that is the only area of contention which caused issues for us. For anyone with a toddler I would consider elsewhere.
