😊: Beautiful property wonderfully located..

😊: A charming old village house with aristocratic spirit on the outskirts of St Malo. The owners have tried to preserve as much of this atmosphere as possible even by ignoring the need to get rid of some old furniture and accessories. The kitchen and bathrooms are well equiped but need certain renovation. The large green yard and garden behind the house is an additional plus. We however could not enjoy it because the weather did not allow. Anyway, the contact with such intellectual surrounding in the rooms and the walls will be appreciated by intelligent visitors. May be this is the reason the owners want a preliminary approval of applicants to hire the accomodation.. 😢: I can't think of something we did not like..

😊: The position of 'Maison de famille proche St Malo' for access to the North East of Brittany would be hard to beat. It would also be hard to beat the responsiveness of the host, thank you Pierre. The house and garden are spacious, with the bonus of your own private parking (with full-height gates). We cooked on the (gas) BBQ many times and enjoyed the ambiance of eating dinner on the terrace with it's fairy lights and green canopy. When we cooked inside, the modern hob and microwave in the compact galley-style kitchen, operate superbly. The village shops provided us not only with the essentials (baguettes, steaks and drink) but also with very friendly welcomes. What can't be found in the village can be purchased in the large Carrefour at Saint-Jouan-des-Guerets, just 7km north and if you have an e-car, the 10 high-power chargers there, should make you doubly pleased.. 😢: 'Maison de famille proche St Malo' is an historical building with an intriguing family history, that draws your gaze to its many artefacts, bookcases and picture frames. It is, however, a work in progress (as mentioned in previous reviews) and, in places, traces a confusing line between renovation, remediation and cleanliness. The bathroom, whilst appropriately sized and properly functional, suffers the most from convergence of these three elements. Although further work is planned and awaiting approvals, you can be both sympathetic to Pierre and at the same time want for more. For those who enjoy multi-day rock festivals, the annual 'La Route du Rock' may be the reason that drew you to Chateauneuf in the first place. For those that don't, then check the dates (www.laroutedurock.com) for when Fort de Saint Pere will be used as a venue and make your plans accordingly (soft ear plugs can also be purchased at Carrefour)..
